We can't sleep in them or on them. In fact we can't sleep anywhere...so why have the beds.
Bioware likes us all standing around. Pffft.

The fancy beds are there to mess up your video caps of all the romance scenes.
Tip: do not install the Orlesian II bed if you are romancing Sera. Well, unless you want everything, including her face, to be covered by the side board. On PC, anyway, not sure about consoles.
Beds are also for jumping. You can jump off the loft in the bedroom and land safely on the bed.
Think of Shepard's personal quarters in ME2/3 and you will get a better idea as to what I'm talking about.
ME3 definitely made the most of Shep's quarters.

Yup. I really thought we would get something similar for the Inquisitor in Skyhold. Turns out the quarters there are just another lifeless corner of the place.
Yeah I have to say, the Normandy, particularly the ME3 Normandy, set a fairly high bar for how to have a home base that worked. Skyhold turned out to be not that much more than a really nice concept.
As far as customization is concerned, I always felt that the overall effect of the aesthetic just seemed weirdly meaningless. In multiple playthroughs, I've never bothered to really change a whole lot. Strangely enough, I found collecting the models in Shepard's display case to be more enjoyable than all of Skyhold's customization options put together.
I kind of wish that Inquisition allowed us to collect relics, like armor, weapons, perhaps a dragon skull or something for display, and use it to decorate a hall, like mementos from past battles and curiosities, like Batman did.

Skyhold reminds me a lot of Sims Medieval, minus the ability to use a bed properly. Lol I love how you can customize it, but it lacks so many things. Ever romanced Cullen? His bed is up a giant ladder with a floor covered in broken boards! Real romantic.
I find more could have been done for Skyhold if given the chance, since we are allowed to buy pretty much everything in Val Royeaux, so why not make use of it? And having a nighttime in Skyhold would have been nice, like at the end of the game, but that might just be the Simmer in me talking. Also, my first DA game was DA2 and I loved the daytime/nighttime options.
I do like changing out the thrones, but that's about it. Once I got the Free Marches banner/Serault glass windows, I never changed them again.
Interior designing is lame.

Sleep is for the weak.
Well, I might have bought all the beds and then watched the romance cutscenes with each one to see which one looks better in them........maybe
OMG, I'm not the only one who did that ![]()
Sleep is for the weak.
Sleep is essential. But not in Inquisition. And by the way...we can't sit, we can't eat, or drink...but we can run around the whole game area without those things with no problem. What keeps us going....h'mmm
Oh silly me , of course in video games you don't need anything....hardly immersive is it.
As for the jumping off of roofs...yes, that is fun ![]()
I hate that I like the Orlesian designs. Oh well. It's just another reason to hate the filthy, cheese eating, mongrels.
Not just beds, cant sit in chairs either. That's one of the peeves I have with most games, if you are going to give us furniture, make sure we can USE said furniture.
Legends say if you jump on your Bed, so much dust comes of it's basically like re-enacting the dust storms from Interstellar.
I'm still waiting on the full Chamber Pot DLC, so much we could explore ![]()
I jumped on Cullen's bed first and saw all the dust rising. ![]()
So then I went to my room, seeing as it looks neater and there isn't a hole in the roof and I concluded that my bed shouldn't have so much dust rising when I jump on it. But it DID!

We sleep off screen.
I sleep during loading screens.

At least you got to use the bed with your romance choice.
I bought the most obnoxious and most luxurious Orlesian bed, and the only thing I got to sleep on was Cullen's janky old thing in his janky, hole-in-the-roof attic. Da fuq.
Sleep is for the weak.
Damn straight. Why burn longest when you can burn brightest?
