I liked the vitaars, but only a select few. The rest I hated. My favorite was the one with the red smear on the forehead and under the lower lip. It made Demona Adaar, the necromancer mage, look even more intimidating. Their armor rating is also low but so far I play on normal so I don't mind having that handicap.

I like my Quinquisitor Hannah, but I don't love her.  She is a 2H templar, and that is part of my issue.  2H warrior is not my favorite class to play.  I think I might like Hannah better if she were a mage.  I adore maging it up.  I'm also having her romance Sera, which I thought would be a natural fit since Sera is already way into a horned murder goddess from the get go.  But to me that relationship is not satisfying because Sera is clearly an 18 year old manic pixie dream elf and I'm an old now, so my 38 year old married cat lady perspective taints that.  LOL.  If this were 1996, I probably would have enjoyed the relationship more.  I also hate the vitarrs.  The Arashok one is particularly ugly.  I cannot craft one in a color scheme to match my purple or teal armor.  To me they kind of drum up this sort of tribal "Qunari are not civilized people" kind of vibe, which I don't like.  I can't even put that ardent crown on her.  That would wreath nicely around her horns.

I too find Sera painfully childish. I'm also not the biggest fan of gay relationships, and yet there weren't many options. Iron Bull would seem like an obvious option for a female Tal-Vashok mage until I realized how bad the romance was.

That left Blackwall (who I can't stand), Josephine (who I can't ever picture with a female qunari former mercenary), and Sera. I admit ignoring my issues with romancing Sera there was a lot of fulfilling content. The romance was especially fitting for my "funny" storyline that involved imports of a evil/crazy mage in DA:O, ruthless Hawke, and ****** Inquisitor who half the companions greatly disliked (Solas and Dorian got punched). Ex: Cassandra's reaction when you ask about Sera's gift. "You are herald and... Sera?!"

Yes, they are. I personally enjoyed playing a tall, horny (pun intended) woman who can make people fear her and a cute little elf to go weak at the knees in the mere sight of her.

I like my qunari inquisitrix slightly more than my other inquisitors.

I like Sera.  She just makes me realize that I am past where she is emotionally, and have been for a long time.  So for me from a romance arc it rings hollow.

I like IB's romance, but not for a tal-vasoth qunari.. but then again opposites do attract, what do I know.  I had my Lavellan  ride the bull as it were.  But that is me getting off topic.

I do feel in some ways it is more challenging to play as a qunari since they kind of get the short end of the stick in terms of romance options and in terms of customization (hair, armor, the whole lot).  That helmet is totally bad ass looking.. wait.. what?  I can't use it.. *WOMP WOMP*  Would love to see BW add some qunari only armor since there is dwarf only and dalish only armor (and more hair, just because Hannah is a merc doesn't mean she doesn't want to be feminine).

I liked Sera too. It just felt like an adult dating a 13 year old girl. It gave a worse feeling than romancing Merrill.

Vitaars boost base damage as opposed to armour.
It makes Qunari good for offensive classes or play styles.

On topic: I like that the Qunari background is the most vague even though my powers of headcanon suck.
Will have to go with being an archer though since a Qunari melee rogue looks odd to me.

Take 1 handsome Man Adaar.  Add 1 Dorian.  Buy the nugalope.

Fun and hilarity for days as Dorian has an aneurysm over how uncool his boyfriend actually is

I think what is fun is based off of your character. You can make an extremely flirty Qunari warrior if you wish and enjoy it. I thought about trying that once, flirting with as many female characters as possible.

I  tried a Qunari warrior woman, and it felt like it worked well. Thought abotu trying again and making her a two handed champion or templar, both based off of KineticGTR's builds.

Speaking of 2H Templars... My quinquisitor Hannah with probably the best armor arms I've never been able to find a schematic for.  They were attached to a set of armor from a dragon loot drop and I just keep moving them to better crafted armor because looks.  They look imposing.  And a warrior Qunari should look like a BAMF, right?

Some vitaars do, and you think helmets for non-qunari have no secondary effects? Some are exceptional.

No base damage is what all vitaars boost in addition to other effects, most offensive and some defensive.

And some helmets are better than vitaar with Mask of the Grand Duchess being the main one, a crafted Superior Skirmisher Hat if you're an Assassin.

For a mage the base damage boost combined with the attack % boost can result in a *substantial* increase in damage. We're talking on the order of 25% plus. Aside from the comically broken +guard on hit and certain ability triggers it's hard to say that helmets are better than vitaar.

Not all helmets certainly.

For my Artificer run, I found the 12% crit chance from Mask of the Grand Duchess far more useful than any vitaar although the Arishok Vitaar does offer an 8% boost.

Conversely for an Assassin, the 16 points of Dexterity from a Skirmisher Hat translates to an extra 16% crit damage and Attack.

Was kinda hoping someone like you would drop in to fact check my s*** though.

Oh you're entirely right that for non mages the utility of vitaar drops substantially as other stats and abilities become prized and as the damage bump drops substantially in return for a negibile attack % boost.

Still, I find vitaar far superior for mages.

The latter point seems to be the general consensus as well but since I never liked playing mages, I'll take your word for it.

I enjoyed it.  Played a rogue archer who was friendly, didn't completely trust mages and enjoyed practical jokes so she got along with Sarah, who romance IB and just treid to do the best she could as inquisitor.   I do plan playing another, though it will be awhile.

I think human elf, and dwarf for the grey warden armor, actually.

No worries. I never really play rogues and barely play warriors so I get it.

Right. Well, Qunari can't wear it.

As far as I know the only Qunari helmet in the game is Dread. Its got 30 Armor 6 Strength 12% bleed on being hit, which might now be changed to 12% Sunder on being hit. And you can tint it. Mine is blood red and real nasty looking.
