I don't think I'll be playing again until I can duplicate my materials for additional playthroughs. Hope it gets patched back in eventually..

You get more than enough materials to craft awesome gear for everyone. In fact, I believe that after they removed the dupe glitch they added more materials per loot/mining nodes.

I would bet the next patch would be out by the end of the month.

For the Amulets of Power I just want Bioware to say what's up, finally. Either its a bug and will be fixed (and its OKAY FOR BIOWARE TO APOLOGIZE; its like they're constantly scared to do so from on high). Or they really are changing their design (less Ability Points) and don't want to tell us (though they SHOULD; it'd give a goal for modders to 'fix').

Its not Bioware attempting solutions that get to me - its their lack of positive communication with players about changes/design and their 'overcorrecting' approach to so many things that make me sigh.

Unless it makes the game unplayable, BioWare don't owe the players any explanations nor apologies. I wish people would finally understand that.

It's not like anyone bought the game based on a nonexistent Amulet of Power marketing campaign.

Yes, it is indeed their right to do so. But it makes me question their judgement. I didn't even use the duping exploit, I just go around getting (almost) every resource that searching picks up, because I'm OCD like that :P  But I'll cite some reasons why it is silly that others have pointed out:

- They never fixed the same issue in DA:O/DA2

- It creates more imparity between PC and consoles, seeing as how like you pointed out, PC players can use mods to gain resources. Even if it's not their intention, it makes it seem like they're just punishing console players, because PC has workarounds.

- It's illogical to patch something unharmful when many bugs are still in play.

- And the main reason. That it's an SP-only exploit that harms no one. Add that to the fact that a very low % of the overall playerbase even knows about it, and even fewer use it, it seems ridiculous to me to patch it, especially so early, while many other bugs exist.

So yes, it's their right, and if they want to patch it out, fine. But do it after you've patched the game fully, and patched inevitable problems that come from DLCs. And don't even get me started about the Amulets of Power. They screwed over everyone instead of making an easy fix. See above.

- And? Maybe they couldn't do it then and they finally figured it out this time.

- This "imparity" exists for every single game ever that comes out on consoles and PC. PC games are much more open since they're not tied to a specific hardware architecture. If it bothers you, play the PC version.

- Perhaps the dupe glitch was causing something else and removing it was the easiest fix? Or it was something easy to fix so they went ahead and fixed it? Only BioWare know what they're patch fix priorities are.

- It may not harm anyone but BioWare didn't intend it and they don't want it. And that's the end of it.

For some reason BW players presume too much.

I get your points and agree with them in themselves. Fixing exploits for SP look so much more like 'really? you're doing THIS now?' than 'alright, you're cleaning up your game, fine, I'll try to find/develop a mod'.

I actually agree that their lack of communication about things like this bugs me the most. More than the issue itself

Sadly a tradition for years now.

Yeah. They really don't have to do anything here.

This is just where I come to the customer relations argument though. Bioware can refuse to explain or apologize (especially the latter in this case), but I do tend to follow the business advice that it doesn't hurt as often as they may think, and will more likely help if they did explain in a fair way.

Oftentimes a concise 'this is our business and this is the general way this is our business' message can work wonders and get many customers fighting FOR you. But of course this is just my opinion.

I don't mind farming mats its part of the game. Whining because you can't cheat anymore seems silly. IMO

Its a boring part of the game and not one worth being done more then once.

Technically, they already did before you even bought it, by choosing what things were and were not possible in the game. (You can't play a dwarf mage, for example.) And closing up exploits is, to some degree, an extension of that.

Well the dwarf thing was obvious because you couldn't do it in DA:O either, but I find it odd that the duping exploit was in the previous 2 DA games yet the one with MP gets it patched out.

I'd guess it's because of how it breaks this game's crafting system in ways that it didn't before. New games, new engines, all that.

Apparently it's not even doable in MP, so that's a false trail there.

The only think it broke was the games garbage RNG loot system so people don't have to explore and farm the games terrible open world gameplay in order to get good schematics.

Regardless of whether or not you like the system, it's the one the developers wanted the game to have. You can not like it all you want, but they didn't do anything morally, legally or aesthetically wrong by making sure that system worked as they intended.

There's no such thing as cheating in a single player game.

PS: There is a big difference between whining and making a justifiable complaint. I see no whining here I'm afraid.

Cheat codes were never a thing.

Closing up exploits before fixing major problems is just about the most retarded thing I can imagine. And I can imagine some pretty retarded things.

Your adolescent diction aside, you assume the patch process is "work on only one thing at a time" rather than "work on several things at once, and put the ones that are done in time for the patch release into the patch while continuing to work on the others".

Some speculation:

Days from the patch 5 beta being announced to patch 5 arriving was 18 days.

Days from the patch 6 beta being announced to patch 6 arriving was 20 days.

Invitations went out for the patch 7 beta a week ago.

On that basis I'm guessing patch 7 will drop between 17-21 April.
