I played DA:I through completely and Frostbite isn't much better. Unreal was not perfect but I never encountered any serious bugs in any ME game.

Omega's broken cutscenes are pretty serious. Frostbite may not be much better, but if it is better, then it's a worthy successor.

like me3 is any better, all characters are either lesbian, gay or bi. all the other romance options are somehow all bi with no straight people existing

Garrus, Tali, Ashley, James, Jack, Miranda, Jacob, Thane, and Javik are all straight. That's nine straight romance options.

Kaidan, Samara, Liara, Kelly and Diana (lol) are bi. Steve is gay. Samantha is lesbian. That's seven non-hetero romance options, although Samara and Liara are kind of tenuous due to the fact that in-game, Asari do not have a natural sexual preference.

See, I didn't have any broken cutscenes on Omega. Not in ME2 and not in ME3.

Frostbite -is- better... once BioWare irons out the kinks. I don't think they'll manage that for ME4.

Whether it will be good or not, is yet to be known. For now, I can speculate to my little heart's content, and face the possible soul crushing disappointment when it comes. But that day is not today. Today, we speculate.

They had everything figured out using the Unreal engine for ME3. ME4 will use Frostbite and here they will have to start over.

I know they're on a new engine. They're still a studio that has actually made a TPS before as opposed to the situation with ME1 and to a lesser extent ME2 where they were new and struggling with genre fundamentals.

Having a top guy from the premier franchise in the genre should help as well.

Frostbite isn't maintained by Bioware, they only have to use the API. There's no evidence that Frostbite is harder to develop on than Unreal, and possibly it's the other way round. Existing Frostbite games (notably Battlefield 4) are visually very impressive, and the engine still hasn't been pushed to its limits.

This is Mass Effect, not Call of Duty. Dual wielding should be kept to a minimum.

It isn't about the visuals, I'm more concerned about physics, animations and stuff like that. Just look how much work BioWare put into Frostbite so they could have mounts and other four-legged creatures, which is something Frostbite wasn't able to do on its own.

Stuff like spawning NPCs, mobs, items etc is also something the engine has to do and considering how ... weird this was handled in DA:I, I'm less than optimistic for ME4.

Example:

ScreenshotWin32_0024_Final_zps33aa4849.p

vs.

ScreenshotWin32_0023_Final_zps696fb32e.p

The banner is the exact same object. It displays for one character but not the other. Does anyone know why? Nope.

One of the many mysteries of Frostbite.

I'm all for dual wielding if the animations look stupidly funny like Skyrim's.

Seeing the direction ME took on its path from 1 to 3, I guess we are going to dual wield chainfists with built-in flamers, if anything.

Anyway, can anyone point me to some tl;dr of what is known about "thins next ME"?

The article did not say that he was involved in the writing for the ending so I take this as a positive for the next ME!

I saw this a couple days ago and it's almost certainly excellent news. Dombrow is a superb writer (I think he's up there with Patrick Weekes and David Gaider as one of the three best at Bioware) but perhaps no less important is the fact that he's had his hands all over Mass Effect. I was worried that ME4 would lack the overall style and execution of the first three games, but bringing in a veteran like Dombrow is a clear sign that they don't want to move far away from all of that.

Anyone know if the main development platform is either Sony or Microsoft, and which is the port? I'm hoping Sony PS4 is the winner because of superior analog sticks making aiming much easier. The XBone analog sticks suck as bad as the PS3 ones. What a step back for the Microsoft's gamepad. Who hires these boneheads that can't design a proper gamepad anyway? Oh wait, it's all based off poll testing on casual gamers so casual that they've never gamed before in their lives, nvm.

Smells of fanfiction. Until I see something from BioWare that's what I'm treating all things like that as.

Yeah, just figured it was worth mentioning more than 99% of the recycled "fwd: fwd: fwd: omg my uncle's doctor's brother's gardener heard an internet rumour" and "gais listen to my ridiculous ideas for me4 and also any other ideas are stupid" garbage filling up the me3sp forums, at least this was formatted nicely and had some interesting ideas even if they likely are bs, mostly wondering if anyone else had heard anything similar anywhere but sounds like no. Honestly can't wait till me4 gets its own forum, till then they might as well rename the me3 forum the me4 forum.

I didn't even read it, just skimmed over it. I'm fairly sure I won't get any new BioWare games, they let me down too often recently. So it doesn't really matter if that is real or not. :)

Really hoping they drop a bomb at E3 this year. If the release time frames are what the rumors say they are then it would be about the right time for a peek.

I know I sound pretty negative in this thread but I wouldn't trust anything you see at E3. Last time they showed off DA:I gameplay... almost nothing of that made it into the finished game.

I was a good idea to buy EA stock, it wasn't such a good idea to buy the games though. ;)

hope they will do a demo for ME4 like they did for ME3.

when i played the ME3 MP demo my reaction was "shut up and take my money!" even with the bugs it had at the time.

i bought 2 accounts for myself for ME3 MP, which i have not done for any other game. (i have 2 because maxed manifest problems on 1 account)

if they dont do a demo for ME4 i will be skeptical and probably wait for reviews and/or youtube gameplay footage of the MP.

honestly, the MP is all i care about.

DA:I?

Go back to Total War: Rome II.

Heck, go back to Spore! That was an EA published title, and will tell you all you need to know about how good EA is at making sure devs release a quality, finished title.

Spore was the first game that came to mind upon reading this.  I wasn't aware that it was an EA title but it is not at all surprising.
