In many respects you are quite correct, though as you'd expect from me, there is a 'but'...

Bugs in the multiplayer, some minor ones, sure, travel to Narnia being the weirdest, though connectivity related as I understand.

The biggest 'oops' moment for me was the key glitch, a genuinely game breaking bug and included in a release just before the holidays. We know all about the several weeks of silence and the angry/toxic threads that whilst they got out of hand, had an impetus that was understandable.

I think over the holidays/new year, devs taking some time off aside, it would have been helpful if there had been some more input, even if it was 'we're on holidays guys, catch this when we are back.'.

Having a glitch as frustrating as the key glitch in a DLC released just before the holidays was truly lousy timing.

Since mid-late January we've seen more from folk like Blair, Graham and Conal, and I think we are getting there.

The 'promise' of more content, unless you have another source is from this PCGamer interview with an un-named 'BioWare representative' talking about support 'far beyond Mass Effect 3' and 'they have a lot of content planned for Dragon Age for months on end.'

http://www.pcgamer.c...-mass-effect-3/

So I expect more stuff to come including the content-that-shall-not-be-named...

DAMP and MEMP content are not identical, so I'd expect to see about the same amount of extra content as ME3 but spread out over a slightly longer timescale. If DAMP is supported across 2015 it will have had support 'beyond' MEMP's year.

I'm probably more forgiving than many, I would rather BioWare dealt with any remaining single player issues and made robust MP DLC that doesn't repeat the key glitch, so I'm not angry. I try to reserve anger for 'bigger things in life'.

TL;DR

Sure feeling 'a little upset' is perfectly rational (and I've been hopeful to see DLC drop for a couple of weeks now) but when it does it is more important that it works than that it drops a few days or a week or two earlier. And when it drops (assuming it all works) I think it would be right to let some of that anger go...

EDIT: And for all the falling out with Penguin, I still see him on the Twitch stream... I hope whatever happened there is not permanent. (even Loghain got a reprieve...)

Is that.......some criticism......of biower????? Never thought I'd see the day.

The key glitch isn't the only major thing to have an issue. Matchmaking as a whole is still broken. More than half the time, I get thrown into a lobby on my own, or get some sort of disconnect from the host. The times I do manage to connect to a host, there's lag like you wouldn't believe (not all of it is down to my connecrion either). Then there's the fact that they've denied there being any sort of "region" lock, while there's evidence to the contrary.

I appreciate that some of the devs have tried to communicate, but it's not good enough. Most of the communication I see is jokes with a certain "group" of posters. We still don't have a list of the changes made during the last patch for crying out loud. I'm sure one of em has seen that complaint, but nothing has been done to rectify that.

On the topic of support, time will tell. I doubt there'd be many people playing MP in a year's time and I'm not even one of those doom and gloom merchants. Having no additional content (don't bother bringing up Destruction) this far in is a travesty imo, and three new kits and a new map won't cut it.

  • I enjoy the game (a lot) and BioWare do a lot right, but yes they also make some mistakes. I'm not blind to that.
  • Sure I get connection failures, solo lobbies and so on, probably one game in 3, and my broadband reliably delivers 60mb so I don't think it's me. But when I search again I'm normally fine and in the game a CTD is very rare.
  • Communication being 'good enough' is very subjective. I think some unreasonable BSN posters own part of the responsibility for that, and BioWare own some responsibility for sometimes not being responsible enough to acknowledge situations on what is after all their own forum.
  • Yes, time will tell, I remain positive, but you were not unreasonable in your view.

Matchmaking is beyond broken, I'm pretty much on 100/100Mb up down and have never met anyone from any country other than Australia and New Zealand.

Any other game that is dedicated or P2P i can connect to people in US, EU, ASiA or even South America with no problems. Be it twitch shoots/3rd person shooters or MMORPG.

This just goes to prove that the matchmaking is hell lazy and they've filter/restricted it by only allowing super lol pings rather than actual connection quality.

Does it matter if I have 0.1 second delay if I am connected to someone in USA or EU? No, because I'm not in an empty lobby twiddling my thumbs.

No wonder the community died so fast, they've only limited to connecting to people within a short distrance from each other.

I'm in the UK and I've only ever heard one American voice in chat. Pretty sure he was invited by one of the others, though. The region lock became a considerable issue for me when I started working afternoons. By the time I get home, hardly anyone's around and I can't just jump into a game.

Guardians of Middle-earth had similar connection issues but no region lock. I had some great games of that with people from all over the world, but mainly US people. The fact that I still get dropped into games of DAMP with abysmal connections despite the region lock is proof that the excuse of a matchmaking system just doesn't work, and limiting us in this way limits the game itself.

I'd imagine there would be some really uncomfortable MP co-op when Palistine is only allowed to connect with Isreal.

Or maybe Bioware is going for the Nobel Peace prize.

The winter break shortly after release and the long silence didn't do well for the game. And I gave up playing "find the Easter Egg" about what's going on with MP on the various channels of twitter, the company blog, threads outside the MP section and whatnot. Actually I've never played that Easter Egg game, because I can't be bothered to piece my info together.

- Game is tightly location locked due to very suspect performance over distances issues.

- Game has been a very big disappointment revenue wise compared to ME3MP due to commerce design decisions, mp competition and poor stability.

- BioWare did indeed have big plans for long term support for DAMP.  These are being re-evaluated due to the poor monetary success.

- Game will under go some major changes to try and fix this issue or some content is simply going to be cancelled due to poor revenue streams.  (I would guess EA is pushing this and telling BioWare there has to be better economic performance or in essence the big plans for long term support will be cut.)

- The reasons for the poor results are:  New engine does not perform as well as the ME3MP engine re connectivity and performance across distances.  Single player game design re crafting rather than the ME3MP weapons and versions of weapons 1-10.  A lot of mp competition at this time.  Bugs and connection issues making people leave the game sooner than anticipated.  Poor community work and not taking advantege of a large single player base that could be encouraged to give mp a try.  BSN is not near the community it was or could be due to the almost total non presence or faceless presence of BioWare people.

None of the above is fact based or provable at all.  Just my speculation.

It's a clever ploy designed to get the person to not shoulder shrug and say.  "It's just Beerfish and another one of his idiotic posts."  If I stated that in the 1st line you would have posted TL:DNR.  I know my audience.
