Yeah, I know GT has higher theoretical flamer damage, but it's too damn squishy to stand and flame. Even with cyclonics. Vorcha Soldier / Sentinel has no problem with that, on the other hand, and needs no shield equipment whatsoever.
A GT built like that : http://kalence.drupa...07585!!24!DA.EG
is a tank. Even with HM, the GT is still extremely resistant.

I have never/would ever use the Acolyte Flamer combo...sounds reallly boring..If I did..I would use Incid. Ammo...makes more sense to me.
I mean the cheese is alright but damn flamer is going to eat most everything fast anyways, I could see it being a bigger factor if you're using a Reegar but with an Acolyte? I just wouldn't waste the incendiary rounds on that setup for a little difference in TTK. You have to proc two rounds of incendiary to get the glitch to roll, most things are toast literally after a round then flamer. Bosses I'm sure you would see some difference in TTK but IDK that it would be that drastic for the Acolyte.

It makes perfect sense if you spec flamer for armor damage and not shield / barrier damage. But lately I don't bother shooting at all and just flame everything regardless.

You know, it does more damage in practice, too. No one says you have to stand right in the open, RHA is something that exists. Vorcha heal... but that still requires you to soak up the damage first. GT can do that part a lot better.

Why in the name of hell would you spec for shield damage?

Exactly. Cryo ammo might help to lower the time you need to burn armored targets... and we all have tons of it just lying around.

Anti-shields ammo are also great for the Acolyte Flamer GT. Phasics to get the maximal multiplier, Disruptor when one is looking for some stagger or has a tech teammate.

I usually don't, hence Acolyte. But then I did spec for shield damage once. It was OK. Can't really say one option is superior to the other. Shield damage especially good vs. Cerberus.
Bloodlust doesn't make you tanky, it makes you survivable
I fail to make that distinction. Obviously, I don't ever use ops packs with Vorcha, as well as shield equipment. And I very rarely die. Like twice per game, sometimes even once. GT, on the other hand, has no regen and gets downed all the time. Shield HP irrelevant without means to regenerate it. It's not Juggernaut with his shield recharge melee. Which is why, btw, shield power cells are superior to cyclonics on many characters.

Doesn't weaken armor to powers but it does slow down enemies.

Flaming Turret Tank build...http://kalence.drupa...!23X51363!D6CBC ..gives you best of everything...gear option is whatever you think is best...for me, with the shield recharge speed with this build...very Tank-able..as I saw someone say he is squishy.

Well, I do carry a weapon. Even if it's only a Hurricane or something similiar in caliber. ![]()

I'm not sure what you're not following. The trooper has combined over 2500 health and shields, and 2200 of that is from the shields, and that's with just 3 points in fitness. They regenerate. Not regenerating 300 health is meaningless. A vorcha with full fitness has 1300 health and 800 shields, so less than just the GT shields combined. Also the GT has 40% DR. If you're getting downed all the time with 2200 shields and 40% DR you're playing stupid, no offense.
Just to clarify, tanky means you can take a ton of hits before you die. Survivable means you can get away with a few mstakes and not die. You can easily die in 3 shots as a vorcha, the GT can take way more shots before you die, thus he's way tankier. Once shields go down, the GT is less survivable than the vorcha, but his shields rarely go down.

So this build has 565 Flamer damage if you adjust it properly: http://kalence.drupa...23X51363!86BBCC
And Vorcha still has 540 base; 600 with power damage amplifier III, 640(!!!) with PDA IV. Which he can equip - he doesn't need that slot for cyclonics: http://kalence.drupa...33X51363!E8.EGG
So I take my words back, GT doesn't even have higher power damage on paper, if you only consider practical builds (with Cyclonics).
Once shields go down, the GT is less survivable than the vorcha, but his shields rarely go down.
I'm sure you've noticed that on Gold about 50% of the time is spent with shields, with most characters. Vocrha's awesome dodge + HP regen means he lives in the situation when GT has nothing left to do but wait to be revived.
If you're getting downed all the time with 2200 shields and 40% DR you're playing stupid.
I'm playing the same way I play Vorcha, flame all the things. Doesn't work at all. And yes, I do use RHA.

Except you didn't select power damage in fortification. If you do that, GT has better flamer, and doesn't need power amp to get there. You can totally use power amp on GT, it just isn't needed since he dished out so much damage without it.

I don't get Geth Trooper. Nowhere near as good as Vorcha Soldier / Sentinel with the Flamer (simply because Vorcha has survivability that Geth lacks, even though Geth has slightly higher paper damage), and very mediocre with guns. It's not even in the same league as TGI.
You're so funny. Keep it up, funny guy.

Also, don't forget the health and shield gates. Those are very important.
Since the Vorcha has very low shields, even a little burst from a trooper will take them down and break shield gate too. So Vorcha will mostly be living on 1 gate.
Meanwhile the GT will have both his shield gate and health gate intact way more often, so he'll be much less likely to unexpectedly drop dead, because his gates are broken, while the Vorcha will die even with regenerating health, because some Nemesis took down his health gate in 1 shot.

I don't usually play Plat, and if I do, I only bring TGI or AIU. Your comment is hardly relevant, no one said we're only discussing plat builds. Or at least I was not aware we are.
Except you didn't select power damage in fortification.
Ahh, missed that one. Now GT is becoming interesting. But this build burns precious cyclonic mods, which I don't have. And I bet it burns ops packs as well.

Sounds perfectly sensible, but contradicts my experience. The Vorcha's dodge is probably key, he takes less hits in the first place.

If you say so. Love that this place is still good for a laugh on a bad day.

It requires some careful handling but since I only use it to complete the flamer challenge, I went with maximum power damage. ^^

This is like the debate about N7 Fury vs. Asari Valkyrie.
Both Vorcha (Flamer) Sentinel and Geth (Flamer) Trooper are powerful characters, but the former is a hit-and-run fragile character while the latter is a tanky character.
Either one is really good for farming Platinum Giant vs. Reapers. ![]()

Oh, by the way, my Vorcha build was also wrong! I forgotten to replace the Stronghold Package with Omnicapacitors!
http://kalence.drupa...33T51363!E8.EGG
624 flamer dmg with Power Amplifier III, 664 with IV
A clear win for Vorcha considering he can fearlessly use his flamer while GT needs to choose positions carefully and hide from time to time to recharge the shield.

I dare say you've got it backwards. GT is the hit-and-run character here. On Gold.
