I get the feeling that EAWare doesn't really want anyone PLAYING the MP portion of their game... or the SP for that matter. Yeah, I haven't touched SP since my system somehow contracted the game-killing "Banta" (i.e. banter) virus. So yeah... I won't be giving my (very) hard earned dollars to this company any longer. Not until they have given me reason to believe it's going to be money well spent.

Multiplayer is a load of fun, it's a shame you are having lag issues with your connection.
Archers can be dealt with, it just takes some practise and not standing in too many of their firing lines on higher difficulty.
It's certainly true that the Katari was particularly vulnerable pre-buff and even now they should remain a target priority for your other ranged party members.

At least you have a higher chance of actually getting into a match on DA MP than you do with the heists on GTA Online. Seriously, you want to talk about something that's broken beyond playability? Look at the GTA Online heists.
As for the issues you're having, it's more than you have really bad luck with pugs than anything. I almost always pug and the vast majority of the time I have no issues, and I don't host simply because of the fact that when I hosted on ME3 MP, after a couple matches, I'd get such massive lag that it'd take me 10-15 minutes just to leave the lobby.
I do agree with you about the archers, though. It's kind of ridiculous the amount of damage they do and how they sometimes glitch out. Zealots and Red Templars ****** me off the most, though. I mean, seriously, how can they block a Longshot with just their sword when it can go through dozens of enemies in a row? And how the hell can they block the 20-something arrows fired from Leaping Shot with their one sword? And their eternal block pisses me off to no end. Just..... WTF?
Still, DA MP is far from the worst MP out there. The match-making is better than GTA Online's by far, imo.
As for the SP, what bug are you talking about? The one where the banter doesn't trigger? I'm pretty sure that was patched already.
(semi-off-topic: Too many game companies are practicing the, "launch first, patch later" policy when it comes to their games. You just have to grin and bear it for the time being)

Of course, if you've been playing a lot and are fed up/burned out, fair enough, I've yet to reach that point. Pillars of Eternity sounds pretty fun, I'm gonna pick that up soon. And Divinity:Original Sin is awesome if you haven't played it yet.

I can understand your frustration, as someone who has pretty bad lag issues 90% of the time. Not sure how much you've played, but if you're new to it, I'd stick with it, as it gets pretty fun. Once you have mid-level gear, you'll be dominating threatening in spite of the lag, and you'll learn to adapt to the point where if you get a lag free game, it's almost harder! Perilous is a different kettle of fish, the jump is huge and with lag, melee is difficult, I spend most of my melee time in the fade.

Connectivity issues certainly take away a lot of the fun, but for me it's not yet enough to keep me from playing. Last night I joined Drasca's lobby. Initially there were just the two of us and I was already swaying left and right. Not good when I'm playing a squishy alchemist. Things got worse when a Necromancer joined. Explosions everywhere from walking bomb and mines. I couldn't tell what was going on. Then an Arcane Warrior came in, and to make matters worse, he was using PotA. By that time I was getting hit with stuff I couldn't see. Teammates swinging at nothing, and dead enemies still standing, also swinging/shooting at nothing. Of course, none of these were the host's fault. We just we live on opposite sides of the planet. When lag is really bad, I usually just play something ranged, but sometimes you really just wanna get up close and personal. I try to cope with it until I get too nauseous to play. Have you ever been in a party with an Arcane Warrior, Necromancer, Elementalist, and an Alchemist while you're lagging? Holy balls man. ![]()
I have a long-time gaming buddy who also lives on the other side of the world. We played MEMP together and it was fine back then. In DAMP however, when we try to get a game going, one of us gets the "lost connection" error, or the eternal black screen. If we're lucky, we actually get to join once the round has already started, only to find out we can't move. He moved on and decided to play something else, which I find sad but understandable.
That said, I've made a few friends from my region which made my gaming experience a lot more enjoyable. I'm hopeful that the upcoming DLC wil spice things up again.

One of the keys to success in DAMP, if not The Very Key to success in DAMP is to have a healthy and active Friends List. Games become more enjoyable and doable that way. Surely, there will be connectivity issues nonetheless, but you will be able to figure them out better with friends than on your own.
Honestly I can't imagine anyone who goes through as many connectivity BS as I do and I've complained about them extensively on these forums. Still, given the hundreds of ours I've played and how far I managed to get into the game, I think I've been doing something right.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah! That Library thing might just be the funniest thing I've heard.. Ever. Seriously, it's brilliant. ![]()
Edit: Except that often they're not very hawt, but rarely when they are they're exceptionally hawt ones.

And I'm an atheist! And can we talk about enemy archers, please? What are the arrows made out of, adamantium?!? Look up overpowered in the encyclopedia, you find pics and descriptions of DAMP archers.
Don't worry, player character ranged crap is overpowered to compensate for that. ![]()

Nope, that's not a good "wow". That's a bad one. The state of MP is ridiculous. I've taken to calling it "Multiprayer", because I almost have to pray I can find a decent, non-laggy session each time I fire up the game.

No, definitely not a joke. Actually, Orbit's kind of cool.
