Red Templar Commander still bugged

I've seen the Red Templar Commander glitch out more times than I can count. It seems to happen when he is killed by an ability, he doesn't go into his death animation. He just stands there as if alive, but not attacking anymore, his health bar showing 1-5%. You can go up to him and smack him with weapons, doing no damage, but push/move him around the area. Nothing works to get him to "die" and get a complete.

 

The leader has to leave,  (resulting in a host migration) and you have to fight wave 5/5 all over again. 

 

Really frustrating on Perilous, as it's a hard fight. When soloing routine and threatening (for achievement weapon kills), I've had this happen several times in the last day. I have to exit out and get absolutely nothing for my efforts.

 

Any one else encounter this, or have ideas on how to avoid this? 

 

Or Bioware, maybe address this in your next patch? You've "fixed" him before, I'd say he needs a bit more tweaking.

You should kill him carefully, with full respect to his three phases of dying.

Haven't had this happen on PC personally since 1.03, what platform are you on?

PS3.

 

Definitely will watch out in groups to see what seems to be causing this. The most recent times I've seen Templar's do the "killing" blow to him with a mass AOE, and he will glitch from that, or if he's caught in ongoing AOE, like an Elementalist's Firestorm.

Never seen this on Xbox One.

Though once he starts clutching his head after his last growth he's going down anyway, so I usually leave him be (and he dies).

 

(does PS3 allow you to do a recording?)

No, PS3 does not allow you to do a recording.

 

They would need to purchase a game capture card and hook it up to their PS3 and computer.

 

Or, I guess, aim a camcorder or iPhone at the TV and record a real bootleg-quality video.

So it is the eles fault again? He gets blamed every time something goes wrong. I think it's a conspiracy. All the other tools are just jealous of his awesomeness, even the AW.

In my case, the RTC will go through his animations and disappear, but the game just won't end. It's like the key glitch, except it's on Wave 5, with everyone just standing around an empty map and nothing happening.

 

I ended up giving up on this weekend's challenge because of it.

I have not seen this issue, but plenty of other problems with RTC, but not since like patch 4. You are making me nervous now.

I'd say that this is an issue irrelevant to Red Templars. I see (on PC) the behaviour that you described where he just stands there with a few HP left, I never really checked what happened to him next as I just procede to kill the last reinforcements while he seems to finally die but I never saw the wave bug out. On the other hand this afternoon the issue happened with demons... we killed the commander and cleared the area (no more red to be seen even outside) but it never completed.

Haven't noticed this happening on PC since the patch. Used to see it at times prior to it, but BW seemed to get it worked out.

 

I'll say this, though, it was a lesson in frustration when it used to occur. Sitting there yelling at the monitor, "Die, you piece of crap! Just die!" Felt like I was trying to kill off Freddy or Jason.

I noticed a Giant go into the 'I'm not going to die, I'm going to stand here' animation,

but then it disappeared (properly dead), so that one looks like it was attended to.

Hm.....weird he always goes into that 'not quite dead yet' mode on the Xbone.  He just crouches there for a while and then dies, while team mates keep wailing on him.  I've never had a match in which he gltiched and would not die after a few moments.

I'm not sure if this is the cause or not, but I think it happens when someone does a TON of damage to him, taking him from 40ish% down to 1% hp. I did it on my Archer in a grouped Perilous run 2 nights ago with a Mark of Death for 40k. He didn't go into his death animation, and bugged out, group leader had to leave (and come back) and we had to re-do wave 5. Same thing happened with my Templar doing 15k to him with a Wrath of Heaven soloing on Routine yesterday. Had to quit the game. This has happened more than a few times for me in different situations.

I'm on PS3 and the RTC's painfully slow dying animation with him hanging around 5% HP happens to me everytime I see him. I actually thought it was intended as so.

 

The only difference is I've never ever had him bugged so that the match wouldn't end properly.

Actually, I few weeks ago I had a match that didn't end after the last enemy, though I can't remember if it was RTC or some other boss.

 

Edit: That massive ending damage might be it, as I've never had the bug and neither have I ever seen numbers like 15k around. 

Usually what I see at best is my 6k longshots.

Happened again tonight. RTC died early on, finished killing his remaining cronies, his body disappeared, but we didn't get a completion. (PS3)

 

Frustrating. Looked everywhere around the quite empty map, no enemies left to kill. Host had to leave, and do it all over again.

 

Group was Arcane Warrior, 2 Elementalists, and a Hunter. Perhaps he died, and then the continuing damage from Firestorms and Wall of Fire messed it up while he was in his death animation? Who knows. This time around, his body had disappeared.

 

Please fix this.

That sucks. On PC when that happens he can actually skip his death animation, but you gain credit for killing him, and mission complete if he's the last.

Hmm, perhaps this wouldn't be an issue if the RTC wasn't strictly modeled after the Samson encounter in SP. Those invulnerability phases seriously need to go.

I've had this happen several times as well on PS4. Well maybe not "several", but at least 3-4 times, it's extremely frustrating. I've also seen the Demon Commander glitch this way a couple of times as well. I think it happened once while he was going underground, when I hit my mark of death and killed him.

Knockout bomb made him glitch out for my pug game, sleep effect breaks his special attacks maybe also death anim (if he dies during sleep). He just stood by the stairs doing nothing. However I just threw another knockout bomb - rogues hit him a few times and he died. This was my only encounter with a glitched RTC.

Just had this happen for the first time, while working on my Routine challenge with Izzy :(

I usually leave him alone as soon as he drinks his Red Lyrium potion for the second time, but this time he didn't clutch his head but built guard instead  :huh:

 

Seems I have to leave the game -_- and here I thought I could get my remaining 22 Routine runs down to 21  <_<

if you take his hp below the death animation trigger point then it bugs out regardless of who does what, if they had allowed him to be killed like all the other bosses it would of been better but sadly they just imported the death animation from sp  without changing the code that would allow you to drop his hp all the way to zero and grant credit for the kill ....

I couldn't even see his HP due to his guard. At least I learned, don't use Flashing Steel on Routine Samson if he has Vendetta.  <_<

Should've gotten his guard down with old fashioned dagger attacks.  <_< *mumbles*
