While the game definitely has pros and cons, after replaying the game again, I just had to say that the music to this game is incredible and well used. While the music on it's own is still very good, when used in combination with the main story missions, it's awesome! For all the harping on what Bioware did wrong, they did this very right and it needed to be said.

So in the spirit of thanking Bioware for a job well done, go ahead and list your favorite musical piece(s) in DAI. Also, please no arguing about DAI's faults; you can take that to other threads.

My favorites are the battle theme while defending Haven and the cutscene after with the Inquisition singing together. Simply amazing!

After getting to Skyhold, when Inquisitor and advisers are walking into the main hall- the drums in that sequence make it such a "like a boss" moment. Love it.
I've done some quick replays of the game now, and there are certain scenes I will not skip through because of the music.  :)

Granted some things were done very well and take notice that your favorites are at the beginning, the problems with the pointers usually crop up later when dialog and music don't work all that well.  However, that does not excuse the incomplete items and missing .... you get the picture.  I don't know how far folks have gotten extracting the sound -its a tough nut to crack, but several sites were working on it. Sourceforge had a topic on this.  In any event, you should be able to find what you are looking for.

While my favorite was towards the beginning, other music towards the end like while getting to the Well of Sorrows was delightful as well.

I like how they cut the elder one theme during his intro, gives a real menacing feeling. As well as the Discovering skyhold track when you are making your way there. Though i do wish there was more ambient music while exploring, i never seem to hear any.

It sounds fine, just needs to play when travelling as well.

My favorites are the 'Journey to Skyhold' and the music playing during the capture of Caer Bronach. It's not on soundtrack but I have it uploaded on youtube.

I think I would like the music... If I could hear it ofc. Thing is I can't have much of it due to some sort of music bug.

Indeed, the music is outstanding in this game. I feel sorry for the people who poured their love into musical form (and likewise, the graphics and level designers) only to have it... ah well.

I don't really know what to praise most; the motifs were exceedingly well done, as were the tavern songs. They were simply beautiful, haunting, sad... whatever the situation required. They always managed to convey meaning without being "too much". I want to hug the music folks.

Frankly, there aren't that many pieces, that I heard and Bards singing don't count. At least for me.

Quality over quantity. And the quality is excellent : )

Can't say I fully agree with the OP on this.

I don't argue that the music is awesome, especially the main theme.

However, what I do have a problem with, is so many different tracks using the exact same melody from the main theme. It is done to the point of tedium. A very lazy approach, Mr Trevor Morris!

Also, the music was very poorly implemented in the game. In many situations, including combat, music is not successfully utilized to help create atmosphere, tension and mood.

Go back and play some of the previous games and you will understand what I am trying to say.

Afterthought....don't know what went wrong between Bioware and Inon Zur, but if he did the music for DAI, it would have been much more epic, I am sure.

Or they could ask Jack Wall, you know, his music for ME was epic.

I thought it was pretty underwhelming. I can't remember any of the tracks aside from the main theme that plays during the title screen and some of the tavern songs.

Music in In Your Heat Shall Burn is really well done from the beginning to the end. It is one of the best missions in the game, imo.

I also love Val Royeaux music. It is elegant and fits well with what it wants to present.

There is few games that have made me just stop or if can't stop doing whatever & start paying attention to the music. If it grabs my attention it is done well in my opinion.

The music is amazing! And while it could have been better implemented, it's still so good that I often times stop playing just to sit and listen to the music, I love it

Never heard any music in this game, apart from the bits in cutscenes. I think its bug, or something. It hasn't been fixed yet, though. My playthrough was utter silence + some party banter.

I had kinda the same problem in Skyrim. Supposedly there's music in the main menu and in the game as well, but I almost never hear it. Sometimes I can hear a faint whisper in the background.

Inquisition has the same problem, though not as bad for me. I'm guessing it has to do with the dynamic range of certain games. Choosing headphones in the settings helps a little for me, but still not optimal. When I can hear the music, though, it's amazing. Not as good as Origins or Mass Effect 1-3, but almost

I loved 'The Lost Temple'   the violin segments are incredibly atmospheric to me, as well as just simply beautiful ^_^

('The Lost Temple' is the song I've heard most often in the Emerald Graves, for reference)

That one is probably my favourite too. There's something very mournful-sounding about the violin bits, which fits perfectly for running through what's left of a long-dead civilization in the Temple of Mythal. Some goosebump worthy stuff there.

In Hushed Whispers is a fav.  Trevor Morris is the ****.  Listening to his music from Vikings series on History Channel too.

It fit really well! I hope we get to see more atmospheric music of similar caliber. I think every culture in Thedas deserves to have something like it that really exemplifies a defining feature of them. ^_^

There was music in this game?
