So, I just got DAO the other day, and am defecting from NWN2 to DAO modding (I know, so modern and recent right).  Anyhow, trying to play the game first, since that makes sense.  Anyhow, discovered that the light armor in the game is terrible.

Can anyone help me figure out how to replace it with armor downloaded from Nexus?  Figured the Witcher stuff looks pretty good, maybe I'll look at Kirkwell Exports as well, but first and foremost, I need to know what it will entail, and what files I'll need to mess about with, how much work it will take, etc.  Also, if you have recommendations on which armor to use to replace it, I'll take it.

Having opened the toolset once (seriously, at the time of writing this, once) I looked and found there are 4 base armor appearances.  I would like to replace those (why is everything else medieval, but the armor is roman?  seriously?).  This is not to replace with half-naked people or anything like that, I really just want light armor that fits in with the rest of the world (and to know how to do things on the toolset).

If you want to install mods, best bet is to get a mod manager rather than use Bioware's crappy bundled installer:

As far as making your own mods goes, armour replacements are pretty straight forward, one of the simplest mods. Pretty much all facets of modding Origins should be well covered by this point, both here on the forum and on the toolset wiki. Start by reading about the basics on the wiki, then Google search the forum for any questions/problems you have (and post if you can't find an answer). Outright replacements of the original models are simple enough. Just create new meshes that use the same filenames. If you want to leave those untouched and expand the selection, you'll want to learn about extending GDAs.

Thank you for the reply.  Was just getting into that now (downloaded the replace light with medium as a starting point).  Noticed it only has *.gda files and what I am guessing are tint files (*.tnt).

That will be a variation GDA override to point the vanilla light armour variations to the vanilla medium armour meshes (and presumably one for the tints). The TNT files specify the tint colours for various material types/quality tiers.

thanks, i figured out how to do it the easiest way possible, just rename armor after the proper name convention and shove it in an override.  I'm about a third the way
