The last few games I had a curious experience: Enemy units would switch targets to me immediately the moment I became visible to them despite a. being other players right in front of them, b. me being on the other side of the map, sprinting past a window (so I was visible to the enemies for half a second tops) and c. I didn't attack anything yet.

There was usually only one TacCloak user in the team, so it wasn't like everyone dumped their aggro on me.

I'm a little annoyed that an entire spawn of Geth ignored the Valkyrie and the KroSent charging them and instead sent everything they had at me. At the other side of the map.

This has been happening a lot lately. Doesn't even matter what kit I am using.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Am I having severe lag and rubberband all over the place without noticing myself? My ping says no... I'm all out of ideas.

1st or 2nd, yes. Does that matter?

Yes. The game is biased towards the top scorer. And enemies will have a higher sync-kill chance to you or so the dev said they do.

Also, if you are hosting, the enemies have a much easier time tracking you and reacting to you.

Great. I almost never host but I tend to score well often... and the game punishes me for doing well? Awesome.

I never noticed that before though. I mean, what I am seeing here is as dramatic as enemies turning around to attack me...

I would like to see that post that says the game aggros the top scorer more. I can see by nature of just you killing things drawing more aggro but I've never heard of the top scorer getting more aggro just as a general. It's entirely possible that I haven't seen that or have forgot that information though.

You won't find a legitimate post claiming that

Ya, I thought the same. It's most likely conformation bias.

Soooo... there is no known reason why everything hates me and ignores the rest of the team in their frenzy to get at me? :P

I play ME3 multiplayer a lot on PS3, and I've noticed the same thing as you. Sometimes I'm playing a Volus just running around being an idiot for the hell of it, and everything's coming my way, instead of looking at my friends who are running Turian and Geth Soldiers, or Human and Krogan Vanguards. I've noticed it when I'm hosting, when I'm in another lobby. When I'm playing aggressively and dominating the scoreboard as well as when I'm screwin' around playing passively and rockin' last place like a boss.

The aggro system isn't exactly stable from what I can tell. The most stable I've seen it, is that almost every enemy will put number one priority to anyone who is hitting it with melee. If you wanna do something for the sake of "science" I would suggest that the next game you notice this severe aggro change, take note of what your playstyle was like compared to your team mates, then try to play the opposite way and see if you notice it again. It may just be that you are using long ranged weapons on a long ranged character and that they are prioritizing you because of it, I'm not sure, I didn't code the game. Just play around with it.

Enjoy your adventures,
~Kya

The enemy has a couple means of detecting the players, the basic one is just to see if there is a player in line of sight.  Then they also have a method to simulate the enemy hearing players (which is how they detect nearby players in cloak).  Attacking an enemy can draw its attention if it hadn't spotted you already. They are also able to cheat and get the location of players directly when they can't see or hear any at all, and at the beginning of waves.  The last ability isn't too noticeable in a team game, but is pretty noticeable in solos, especially when you are doing something like devices as an infiltrator.  You can see the enemies backing up towards your current position, but looking at the last place they saw you.

The other bit that I can think of is that enemies will target switch to nearby injured players in an effort to finish them off.  Taken altogether this can create the illusion that they target the top scoring player, which is almost always the most aggressive player.  First to get into LOS of the enemy, and first to take enemy fire and nearly guarantee everything target switches to them if they hadn't already.

As for enemies beelining for you at the beginning of the wave and ignoring the others, I would have to witness it to explain it.  Usually the enemies cheat at the very beginning of the wave to determine where the players are to prevent them from wandering aimlessly, and they should head towards at least one player until they spot other players.

I notice this too...some games I feel like the enemies are pre-dispositioned to attack me for the entire match!  I guess scoring makes more sense though.

I know, I read that, too. It doesn't explain what is happening to me though.

I guess I'll have to make a video and figure out how to edit it... and then I need a youtube account... meh... work.

What platform do you play on Daemion? If you're on PS3 we could play a few rounds, if I see what's going on I could definitely give you some more help.

Failing that, you already touched base on the idea of recording a video, so there's that option. Or just "science" it yourself haha.

Best of luck,
~Kya

If you're killing at a high rate then you're probably generating a lot of aggro. Footsteps aren't the only part of the sound detection mechanic. Gunfire, killing stuff, etc is all going to draw a shitload of attention fast.

I'm pretty sure everything targets me, regardless. I get followed by both Banshees no matter what my team does. And anyone who's played with me knows I am always the bottom scorer.

Here's a thread with Brenon Holmes. He explains AI. And it does say that he did have a cheat were enemies would target his co-worker specifically by his name. He says it was only in the dev version of the game and the release version has none of that. But who knows. This game is more buggy than collectors or seeker swarms.

Did they take out the code, or can one still activate it in the developer console? I'm asking purely out of scientific interest, naturally ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I find that the easiest way to play this game is to assume that everything's gonna fire on you.

In my experience, it's not that big of a stretch, lol.

Maybe the agro is evenly split up, and when you come out of tac-cloak, some enemies switch back to you to balance the agro across all players again? Does this sound like a sound enough theory?

Tell me what you want. guys, but Banshees do have a crush for me, especially when I'm a Krogan.
