What's steam overlay? Seriously, I have no idea. All I can find on Google is how to turn ir off!

When you add a non-Steam game to Steam, you can give it any name you like. You can start Origin from Steam and have it look to all your Steam friends like you're playing Leather Goddesses of Phobos. Or using Actuarial Virtualizer Plus.

I'm very aware of this, and it doesn't mean I want to. So I just don't connect ME3 to Steam

Also, assuming future warfare involves heavy usage of light/energy based weaponry, I can only imagine the colourful spectacle of armies pewpewing each other, making war kind of pretty.

shadowplay takes screenshots? didn't not know that. thought it only records video.

It does record video. That way you can run around playing the game and then frame-by-frame to get that nice shot. Better than trying to screenshot at just the right time at 60FPS, right? (:

How are you using it?
Do you just manual record or use shadow time?
I find the max shadow time of 20 mins to be a bit annoying cause most of my games take 20-25 mins, so I've now set it to record the last 5 mins in high quality in case I come across anything strange/weird/funny/interesting.

Manual. I just start it when I start the match, turn it off when I'm done.
I hardly ever game on my PC (in fact it's hardly ever in Windows) so I usually don't have the additional drive connected for it to store data on, and I don't need it constantly writing to the super-slow OS drive...
