The villains of Human Revolution were generally all terrible. No proper good ones like good ol' Bob Page.

I liked that, except for the stupid mercenaries, there were no real villains in this game. Just different agendas and people working for them. Even Bob Page is not a classic villain per se in HR (besides, he is very far in the background in this one). It's all a matter of perspective. That was one of the strengths of the game.

If you were talking about the mercenary squad, they were just goond (allbeit, when those goons were used for boss fights, I'll admit, that wasn't relly good - although it got slightly improved with the Director's Cut).

I'm looking forward to this.  Though I hope the xp system gets overhauled so nonlethal takedowns are the "best option" to maximize experience.

I liked the original game's system better where xp was mainly through quest completion and exploration.

For this reason, we have to say goodbye to some of their favorite characters, including and ( spoiler! ) pilot Farid Malik. In one of the missions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Farida plane was shot down on approach to the landing. Life charming pilot was in the hands of players: could repulse enemy offensive and save Malik or throw it to die at the crash site. In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on the job we will deliver new pilot - Elias.

But Faridah Malik was the only good character in the game! This sucks!  :crying:

I wasn't arguing for the lack of a real antagonist, I was arguing that the game's presumed antagonists which were obviously the bosses (those whacky mercs), given they basically act and motivate like Saturday Morning Cartoon villains and that was incredibly jarring.

Sure, these people have different agendas, but so those Kreia, so does Loghain, so does Sun Li, so almost any good villain but it doesn't make them any less of an antagonist if their ideologies opposes the hero's.

I just watched the trailer on Youtube

Normally this trailer would make me excited, but all it does is make me angrier.  <_<

Well, at least they're still emphasizing "choice" in their next game.

Ah yes, "Choice". The concept of where the player's action will affect the world they are playing. We have dismissed that claim.  -_-

Fast Jimmy is well versed in the world of hentai. Noted.

Has it ever been stated that the game was balanced for not using augments, because I find that hard to believe. As for the natural playthrough route I don't think that was supposed to be anything more than an additional challenge, since Jensen was already augmented from the beginning whether you wanted it or not.

Well, I was basing it off of experience more than anything. With advanced strength, invisibility, laser targeting, insane damage absorption... not very far into the game, you can play it like Doom on God mode. It's a little wacky.

So... there will be romance options in this DE game?

By born, I assume you mean cloned from his older brother Paul?

JC, Paul, and Alex are all clones from the same source (presumably Adam Jensen)

Making JC will probably be a "choice" in the game, and you can "choose" whether it happens or not. Then in the sequel it will happen regardless of what you did.

Trust me, as someone who spent a lot of time in labs, babies can be made in a way that definitely involves romance, even in a lab*. ;)

No, Paul was born normally to a normal couple in 2018. It was only after his ability to not reject augmentation was discovered that Majestic 12 decided to create clones that would be available to experiment on. Hence DC.

I might have to replay the first two games again, but that sounds suspiciously similar to Adam's backstory.

What I really want is to be able to alter the appearance of the protagonist. Why can't Jensen be male or female? Black, white, asian or latino ? More companies should treat the image of the game character on the Box Art as nothing more than a placeholder. I think it would have been cool in Deus Ex: Human Revolutuion, if Jensen could have been a badass female Head Of Security.

Deus Ex games have always been about a set character. Deus Ex 1 and Invisible War allowed some customizations though (JC Denton can have his skin colour changed and Alex Denton can be either male or female as well as have their colour changed, originally the choice of gender was planned for JC but it was scrapped). Most people who played the games though just kept the default settings for these characters so I guess it was decided for Human Revolution that it didn't matter.

Also allowing choice of gender would change a host of other things. Make Jensen female and what happens to the whole Megan plot? Is she turned into a man, made into a lesbian?

What is wrong with a set character when it works well?

What's wrong with lesbian (or bi) Megan? It's not like there's a need to have a biological child.

This is about Jensen. You'll get a chance in 2077 to play either gender or lesbian or whatever, but this is about a set character, and that approach has its own strengths.

Not everything has to appease every single group.

As slimgrin pointed out, you'll have Cyberpunk 2077 for all that customization. Let Deus Ex have its set characters.

But what I'm saying is that making Jensen a woman doesn't have any plot blowback. It's not like 2020s USA would be homophobic, and Megan is only banging Jensen for his DNA. Having a dick isn't relevant to that part of the plot. That's my point.

Jensen is a fixed character in a lot of respects, but being fixed in terms of gender doesn't tie into the plot. His being a cop, how he was a cop, etc. that's all relevant.

Dude, what are you on about? You said changing the gender would change the plot, but there's absolutely no reason anything about Megan has to change if Jensen doesn't have a dick. We're not talking about changing the background or personality here.

Not every game is willing to carry over it's choices from the previous game. Eidos isn't willing to incur that cost of the save import or sacrifice other content. I don't blame them I actually appreciate more diversity in games, not all games with choices need a save import and not all games with choices need a canon.
