For abilities like shield wall and block and slash, which you'd hold down on a contoller in anticipation of an incoming hit, how does the AI function? My companions appear to be using them but I can't tell if they attempt to time their usage with incoming attacks, or if they are just activating and waiting, during which of course they wouldn't be auto attacking or using other skills.
How does the AI use press and hold skills?

AI uses Shield Wall really well in my experience. They stop almost everything.
AI use of Block and Slash is decent (successful blocks make a "TING!" sound btw), but it only works for melee attacks.
The AI will only hold both abilities long enough to successfully stop the attack, then they go right back to auto-attacking or using their other skills. Also I leave those skills on "Enabled" and not "Preferred". If they are set to "Preferred" the AI usually turtles up and attacks less frequently in my experience.

That makes sense. So block and slash goes into cooldown after triggered, but does the AI tap shield wall repeatedly to intercept attacks, or hunker down behind it for some determinable amount of time?
