Is there any way to kill any of the companions in DA:I?

I enjoyed the option to get rid of & in some cases kill off companions in previous games.  As far as I know, you can get rid of a few of them like Sera, Cole, Blackwall, & Dorian.  I believe you can only skip recruiting Iron Bull & Vivienne.  And the starting 3 are permanent.   Can you not kill off any of them?   Because that is really disappointing to me if true.

Solas isn't.

He is for most of the game.

Depends on how you play the game. You can do most of the side quests after the main game.

That's not the point.   You can't kill him off or get rid of him till the end of the main story.

No, you can't kill off any companion this time.

It's not that BW doesn't want to indulge your sociopath tendencies or anything, it's more that they've possibly finally realized that leaving characters in a state of "may or may not be alive" is either a dead end for the character (can't be brought back in a significant role if they don't exist for a lot of players anymore), or a massive time/resource sink for them (can bring Warden Loghain back for those that have him, but then need to bring back Warden Alistair too for those that have him instead, but then also need to bring back Stroud for those that have neither, taking three characters to do the job that one could have done).

Leaving no leeway to have characters stuck in maybe dead/maybe alive paradoxes ensures that they can use those characters for whatever they want in the future without the need for miraculous ressurrections or complex workarounds.

You can skip recruiting everyone but the initial three. Vivienne, Sera, Blackwall, Iron Bull, Dorian and Cole are all optional.

You can't kill any of them, though. I think BioWare are mostly done with killing off people they might want to use later - just look at what happens to Calpernia if you decide to fight her.

Thanks for the confirmation.   I understand the behind the scenes reason why they don't allow it anymore, but it makes me like the game a lot less.

In Blackwall's case,
Spoiler

You can attempt to kill Cole, at least on the templar route, but he just makes you "forget" and disappears. Though, needless to say, he doesn't join the party.

Stop trying to roleplay in a roleplaying game.

It keeps happening...

Well, personally I think there should be an option to play the Inquisitor as a ruinous tyrant or an outright thug. A person who wants to play an evil character doesn't necessarily have to possess those tendencies themselves.

Also, the chance to do very ruthless and savage things in the game does more than increase the roleplaying options, it makes choosing the more idealistic path mean more.

Not gonna lie, this would be a 10/10 game for me if I could kill Cullen.

There's always Pillars of Eternity  :)  Obsidian Entertainment rarely shies away from letting their players do horrible, stomach-turning stuff.

Some characters that people hate with a fiery passion and the sooner they can be wiped from the faae of Thedas in the slowest and most painful way possbile the better the overall experience of the game people will have.

Can't confirm, but I think Blackwall is the only one that can die.

Also, you are only offered to murder knife one in the entire game and thats by doing Dorian's quest

Okay, I dislike Vivienne, but not enough to wipe her off the very face of Thedas.

No idea how anyone could hate a companion so passionately. There isn't a single hateful inner circle member!

Perhaps some people need anger management?

About says it all really... I mean, play another game, like Skyrim (the daedric quests) or Sims or... But choosing a game mainly based on teamwork and then criticizing it because you can't murder all the members of your team is pretty... Dense as well as sadistic.

It's like criticizing a coffee shop because they won't give you gin... Just go to the boozer already!

I dislike Vivienne as well, but do not hate her. I would like, however, to be able to play a character who very much does. You know, for roleplay reasons.

I didn't dislike Fenris either, but my red!Hawke still gave him back to Danarius. Roleplay! Bloodmage high-five!

I don't want to Kill any member of my Team. I just want to kill Cullen. I'm cool with everyone else.

Why would I want to kill a Qunari spy, for example?

Is that even a serious question?

Hey he is honest about being a spy. It's not like he doesn't tell you he is a spy.  You agreed to it going in!
