No, the Warden's story felt complete to me at the end of DAO so I have no interest in ever playing the Warden again, not even in DLC.

Seeing as they've already said a dozen times they're not going to come back, I just want to know whether or not she succeeds in her quest, returns to Thedas, and runs off into the sunset to continue her sweet adventurin' with Leliana.

Preferably they'll leave them both alone after that.

Agreed. While I'm the type who prefers a returning protagonist over new ones every game, I can handle the latter. It's when they shove said protagonist's husband (Alistair), BFFs (Morrigan and Leli/Varric) into our faces in every subsequent game, that I start to miss that character. If they're not going to involve any of our protagonists in a potential DA4 or whatever it'll be called, I'd really rather they keep the cameos to a minimum - especially when over half of them feel unnecessary. But I'm already prepared for my annoyance when they flaunt Dorian/Cullen all around the future game while my Inquisitor is "missing" or whatever

But to answer the question, sure. Not as much as I used to since some distance has been put between us and DA:O (I don't even remember half of my choices, probably even forgot a party member or two), but it would be fun for the nostalgia in a DLC/expansion, most likely. I wouldn't want to play as Hawke again at all, while OTOH I'll be pretty bummed when (inevitably) we won't get to play any more as the Inquisitor.

I snarked about it in some other threads, but actually I don't care about what they do with their games anymore.

Personally, yes. A whole game would be a bit much though. Finding a cure for the calling sounded more interesting to me than closing my 76th rift or establishing another camp for +1 power. As much as I would love a dlc with the warden it doesn't seem likely at this point.

Why are ppl so obsessed with the warden? That's an honest question, I'm curious.

Personally, I'm not obsessed with the Warden at all... After listening to Leliana speak about the Warden in a loving way it just made me feel nostalgic and want to delve into his story arc having to do with curing the Calling. There's really not much else to it.

And if the Warden fails and dies alone, far away from Leliana (or Morrigan, or Alistair, or Zevran)?

Or if there is no cure, and sooner or later is consumed by the taint, doomed to become a cannibalistic ghoul or die in the Deep Roads just as every Warden fortunate enough to live that long does?

There are far too many ways the Warden's story can end unhappily.  Leave the truth of it to headcanon, and nostalgia to DAO.  Don't trust happy outcomes to Bioware.

Only if they do what they did with Shepard in ME3, where you start the game at the last level you was at. Or, since it will use the keep, just start the game at level 30 and let you just upgrade everything you want right from the start. Of course there will need to be a ridiculous amount of skills and talents, since the game will need to let you go to level 60 from there like ME3.

It doesn't seem feasible to do this.

No, neither with Hawke or Inquisitor. I like the concept of a different hero for each DA game and I hope that Bioware will continue to follow it.

Yeah. I liked all of the protagonists - I thought that the Inquisitor would make an exception, but shortly after that, gamer Stockholm syndrome kicked in and now I love him, too.

I only wished they would get more dedicated to the "Thedas is the consecutive protagonist"-approach in a future installment.

I don't care what else has to suffer from a potential resource shift, but my dearest wish is for decisions that make for fundamental differences in the game world. I'm talking cities being destroyed or joining forces with the enemy, so they're no longer a safe travel location. Important side plots ending irrefutably with a character's death, and this death not feeling like a moral or gameplay failure you deliberately make to experience the difference. Speaking of which: Failure. Stuff should be able to go south because you as a player failed to make smarter decisions, or defeat an enemy, or the right enemy. And there's no game over screen, just people being disappointed and/or suffering as a punishment.

Not that I'm getting a kick out of pain & suffering, but the knowledge that it could happen would make being the good guy ever the sweeter.

I kinda wonder if part of the reason I (and potentially others) greet the appearance of each new protagonist with so much enthusiasm is that I really enjoy creating new characters. I'm a multiple-playthrough person. I enjoy making new protagonists with different faces/classes/personalities, and I'll play most of them through to the end. Yes, I have favorites, but I don't have a "One True Warden" or "One True Hawke" or even "One True Inquisitor". So a plea to bring back the "One True Hero of the Series" kinda leaves me scratching my head and saying "Uh... yeah. Which one?" Also, multiple playthroughs has kinda sated my need to spend more time with the protagonist and his or her companions. I'm usually ready and eager to meet someone new by the time the next game rolls around.

Maybe I'd feel differently if I only played each game once, but why would I want to do that? It's fun to see how different choices turn out in the end.

I've actually played it a few times but see my first Warden as THE Warden.

Would I like to? Yeah, but I'd be cool with a DAI DLC pack where the Warden is a companion of the Inquisitor and that'll just wrap it all up and send my Warden riding off into the sunset.

That being said, I wouldn't mind playing as a Warden again, but not necessarily my Warden.

I personally like the idea of returning protagonists, it helps to flesh them out and I get more attached to them, so I wouldn't mind playing as my Warden again....maybe dealing with this whole cure for the taint thing, but I can accept that their story is over as long as they leave her alone. That being said, I hope they neve ever bring back previous protagonists as NPCs. If nothing else, Hawke's cameo only proved that my fears regarding her appearance in inquisition were justified.
