A bunch of old men who doesn't know how to deal with the new technologies of the 21st century, it's like the RIAA vs. the internet all over again.

They're angry that the cool stuff we have wasn't there during their generation. So they stick to their "old fashioned" ways and virtues in hopes that they don't have to move on and attempt to push them on others in a desperate effort to return society back to the way they knew it at the time of their childhood.

^ You two...

I think it's just forcing EULA on you. You should have never bought the games with such ridiculous condition and agreement. YOU SHOULD ALL HAVE READ THAT CRAP BEFORE SELECTING THAT "I READ IT AND I AGREE/UNDERSTAND..." THING!

EULA shouldn't be 50 pages long. I mean who reads that crap? If it was a few sentences then yeah I would.

we'll see how long their crusade against VPNs last when the multinationals start weighing in because they want to protect their corporate secrets and that "office" of theirs at the Caymans.

If that truly is a side effect of this legislation, then I would gladly have gaming take one for the team.

Hidden and closed book bank accounts like in the Caymans, St. Vincent's or Gibraltar are what engender the financial disparity in the world today. The fact that the richest people and organizations have easy methods of hiding vast sums of their wealth is how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. If we have to give up modding Zork to overcome that, then that's a price we must pay.

It never ceases to amaze me how Merica, land of the free, greatest country on earth, is practically leading the charge when it comes to limiting distribution of creative content.

Let's compare the ESA to Social Justice Warriors.

SJWs failed epically in their quest to clean the internet. Smart trolls destroyed them. To this day some continue their crusade. Of course, it fails since people like myself exist. The ESA wants to impose laws to combat whatever, and they're going to fail.

The ESA is no different. Like SJWs, they claim that their cause is noble, when it isn't. If anything, they'll still get outsmarted by the smart pirates and modders, just as SJWs got outsmarted by smart trolls. It's a futile attempt.

There's no need to worry too much. I'm sure over half of this forum has most of their songs pirated and downloads free movies. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That's because the goverenment is beyond corrupt and is playing society. They are striving for control, they could care less about the people.

I don't know about this leglislation, but there has been some grumbling from them over the use of VPn as of late. Equal treatment for the multinationals is the least likely thing to happen... I'm half expecting that the big corps to threaten the copyright holders to drop the issue under threat of assassination.

That is, scarily enough, the most likely outcome.

After all, it was an "accident," right?

I will now show the original anti-piracy ad

Yes, it is 90s rap at it's absolute worst, and I am sorry for doing this to you, but it proves a point. Even if the copyright holders dreams of ending our ability to share across the internet comes true, it still won't be the end of piracy.

Technically, if you are wealthy enough to have disposable income for a computer, online access and electricity, you are likely within the top 1% of the wealthiest people worldwide. International poverty is a huge thing.

But in terms of the 1% of industrialized society, yes. You are completely correct.

Piracy will never be eliminated, anymore than shoplifting will. The world cannot exist without the capacity to commit crime.

Well somebody has to lead us. People are sheep. Sad but true. I mean, look how many people in the world believe in God. What does that tell you?

I don't want to come across as rude, but I will be.

Don't these people have other things to do? Things that, I don't know, actually matter? Like teaching me how to Engrish?
