Well somebody has to lead us. People are sheep. Sad but true. I mean, look how many people in the world believe in God. What does that tell you?

this mentality pre-dates gods and religions by really long time though... this whole sheep mentality can be observed in apes, or that opening scene of that 2001 space oddessy movie. Notice how the rest of the apes followed that one ape who had the brains to arm himself with a stick and the brawn to beat off the whole other monkey pack so they could drink some water.

Thousands of years later and human nature hasn't changed much at all... took us this long just for women to have (almost) equal rights, and we still conflict with people based on color. Wasn't until the 1970s that Australian aboriginals were officially classified as people. We're only slightly less savage than a thousand years ago I think.

This has nothing to do with religion. I've seen a ton of atheist sheep, too. If people are going to be sheep, they're going to be sheep.

In the United States (and some other countries, like the UK and Canada, I believe), there exists a thing called Nullification by Jury.

The way it works in the U.S. is that a jury can acquit a defendant, even knowing that he or she is guilty. This is a jury's way of stating that they don't believe in punishing someone for having broken the applicable law(s), or that they believe the law was applied inappropriately.

If your intentions are to preserve and record, I really don't care what you do. Just please be prepared to show that you aren't causing real financial harm to the creators of the work in question. I said creators, because I don't have much sympathy for entities that bought ownership of something they didn't make.

So I guess games really aren't art then?

There's a group of people trying to piece EQOA back together, which is apparently exceedingly difficult and it'll never be 100%, but they have the empty world to work with. I check to see how it's going from time to time because one day I'd like to run around in that world again. The thing is, EQOA was my first MMO and a huge part of my childhood. It, and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance are what got me into the Fantasy genre to begin with. Trying to preserve a game like that in some form really shouldn't be illegal.
