I still will do some of these LM's, just for roleplaying reasons. And avoid some for RP reasons too.

It's a little too "gamey" for me to avoid them, simply because they might not have an effect later. I just like the issues and mental state some of them put me in. Jacob isn't one of my favorites, but his mission makes some cool points about being a responsible leader and captain and how to treat women. And I love ending it with the crew punching his dad out. It might not matter in the overall story, but it's a good experience for my Shep to go through.

Miranda though, I thought she will invariably die at Sanctuary if you don't do hers, complete all 3 Citadel conversations AND allow her to use Alliance resources?

Miranda will die loyal  even if she is warned about Kai Leng and giving access to Alliance resources. It depends on what the player chooses for a dialogue option and uses the interrupt otherwise she will die from a gunshot by her father. She dies very quickly

With the hindsight of metagaming, I now ignore Samara's because I don't agree with helping either. One's a murderer and the other a zealot. Doesn't cause any issues down the line, so I've no problem with letting them work out their own damn problems.

I also don't particularly like either of the outcomes of Jack's, but liking her character, needing a loyal biotic specialist, and wanting to get her a damn shirt carries me through it anyway. Similar story for Zaeed's, but I suspend my roleplaying for a bit because it's a fun mission, "fry you sonovabitch" in Robin Sachs voice is priceless, and I'd rather get both the Volus fleet and Turian colony later on anyway. Guess those workers shouldn't have signed on for a job and been to lazy to learn how to turn a couple of damned valves.

I've ignored Thane's before out of a sense of "meh" as well, but its right next to Garrus's in the plot and takes like 10 minutes anyway so I usually hit it.

Ignored Miranda's once because of once again disagreeing/ not caring for the plight of either side, but then she died at Sanctuary so I don't do that now.

I kind of change these things up depending on where my Shepard is at mentally. My Canon Shep is just a Renegade Soldier. He looks at Zaeed and sees himself when he's older...

Joker has that one line.. "Zaeed is like you...... except he takes checks."

But I try to pull Paragon on Zaeed with this Shep, because he doesn't want to continue being a dick. ME2 is like his chance to be reborn and try to improve himself. And maybe others along the way.

eh, even with Zaeed's the choice is pretty ambiguous in moral terms. Vido's a killer, after all. Pragmatically, it is far more important to gain Zaeed's loyalty and ensure his effectiveness as a team member anyway.

Plus I think that paragon persuasion cop-out that keeps his loyalty is really lame.

I don't think it's a copout.. Zaeed is on a team now, and bigger things are at stake. He's not stupid, once you point that out to him. His character is all about harsh life in the Terminus, as a lone human.... and what measures he's taken to stay alive. Paragon is just letting him know he doesn't have to do that anymore.

And the other thing is... Zaeed's got all of these stories about killing Krogan, Batarians, and Turians... but he's sinking to a deeper level by letting innocent human workers die for his own ambitions. He's gone beyond mere survival and becoming exactly the thing he hated. And Shepard will be worse off for it too. Why even bother caring about Collectors abducting colonists, when you yourself will let some workers burn in a fire... just to hunt down some merc. lol. The whole theme of the game is "Fight for the lost" and here we are being douchebags ourselves. Those workers probably already live off crappy wages as it is and already have a rough life in the Terminus. And now you would be making it worse by helping Zaeed.

Just saying. :P

Good analysis of the themes of the overall story and this mission.

No you can't do that in particular. Even if you delete the Heretics and rescue Koris, you will still only be able to achieve 4 of the possible 7 brownie points (you need at least 5). I can't think of a passable scenario where at least 1 of them isn't loyal, but you don't need both of them.

2+ from clearing Tali w/o presenting evidence
2+ from deleting Heretics
1+ from talking down their confrontation via reputation check
2+ from rescuing Koris (1+ for just doing the mission even if you save the civvies instead)

Are you sure that is correct? I think you just have to clear Tali of charges; using persuasion to do it (Charm, Intimidate, or neutral option) should not matter. I am 95% sure that I have achieved peace between the Quarians and Geth after clearing Tali of charges by giving the evidence, thereby keeping her unloyal.

And if Tali is unloyal after completing her loyalty mission, then Tali and Legion do not fight so there is no confrontation between them to settle.

Same for me. I turned over the evidence losing Tali's loyalty, did Legion's loyalty mission and not having them argue and still able to get peace in ME3.

To get peace after turning over the evidence just destroy the heretics in Legion's loyalty mission, rescue Koris and do the geth fighter squadron mission and have 4 full bars of reputation to get peace.

Really? Hmm. I may have to try this sometime.

(This would mean the wiki is wrong.)

When turning over the evidence, Shepard is only losing Tali's loyalty not making her an exile so the player still gets +2 points for her not being exiled

I don't know about the wiki, but in the Collector's Edtion guide book on page 263, it gives the requirements to achieve peace

Maybe the server mission also gives points?
