I get this all the time,I still can't see when I'm messaged or invited.I have to shift-F1 from time to time,just to see if I have messages.Re-installing origin does no good either...so frustrating...origin pls.

I couldn't see my friends list at all, either via shift-F1 or alt-tabbing. Apparently I looked like I was offline, even though I wasn't. And I could access the store etc. It's only ever happened to me twice, so I guess I can't really complain. Still, orijan pls.

Chain-happens to me every so often, along with the message that you (or your friend) need to opt into the beta to use the next-gen, in-development text chat feature.  I find reinstalling Origin prevents it from happening again for a few patches.
