Hey everybody,
My favourite characters being Blackwall, Sera & Cassandra I obviously had a little human warrior overkill in my party. So I went to skill Cassandra with Greatswords, but quickly realized that you're gonna have to think a little more about it than just maxing out the 2H-tree, given the unfortunate AI, to keep her standing and effective.
As I read that a lot of people are having trouble with it too, I thought I share what works for me. (Note however, that I only play one character seriously, so my level is fairly high. On the other hand, there are quite a few Amulets of Power for Cassandra in the game, too.)
The goal was to create a 2H warrior who can be left more or less unattended, and this way it works in most instances. At least I managed to make her not any more potion-thirsty than the rest of the group. The biggest downside is that I had to waste two skill points in active skills she shouldn't use.
Mighty Blow
You gotta respect the classics. Less classy and/or respectful people might even call it a fitting nickname.
Unbowed
Greatly underrated, since it builds insane amounts of free guard without taking any aggro. Casting it at the beginning of an encounter in combination with Still Standing and Untouchable Defense gives her a second health bar right off the bat. Utilizing both Flow Of The Battle and basic crit chance for flanking an enemy, you can essentially spam it. Should be set as "preferred".
Block & Slash
It's a necessity - basically a warrior's only active measure of defense, and the 180° knockdown slash is priceless. It even kicks in for attacks that normally wouldn't have hit her. Should be set as "preferred".
Charging Bull
No, that didn't happen by accident. The skill AI has been improved, and it mostly works now. It is important to realize that it's more used to "break free" and shuffle things up, than to charge into combat. Ontop of knocking everyone down without remorse, it also creates +10 guard for each victim. If you set it to "preferred", Cassandra will teach Horrors a lesson in chaos, but most importantly it makes her entire combat routine more ambulant. I cannot stress enough how much of an improvement that is. She will naturally change her position frequently, which is a bliss versus Dragons or even just Giants. (YOUR LAME SEX PUN HERE.)
Horn of Valor
Cassandra is a great commander & supporter, this skill fits the bill. A whoppin' 35% damage bonus for the whole party is something you can't easily ignore.
War Horn
This casts AoE panic onto all enemies nearby, making this an uncanny get-out-of-jail-free-card whenever things get too hot. Also 1,200 % damage (that's "thousand") versus guard will leave any High Dragon fighting with their pants down. Would recommend turning this off, so you can order usage when needed.
Spell Purge
Your handy "No-no" sign versus magic users and demons. You'd think that's where it stops, but this spell just so happens to be ridiculously overpowered: Spell Shatter applying an AoE dealing 600% weapon damage (remember the weapon in question is a freaking Greatsword) can also crit, and will kill Wraiths & Despair Demons and most Mages instantly. Did I mention it's also a combo detonator versus incapacitated foes? Now if only she had a skill that would apply an AoE stun...
This should be set to "off", since it is only useful when used with a certain precision.
Wrath of Heaven
...what do you know, an AoE stun!
Now if only it could be used to detona- okay, you got it. It's important to note however, that this combo can seldomly be "improvised", since the two skills in quick succession essentially drain all stamina at once. Even without the self-combo detonator this skill is hella useful, though. Instant cast, massive damage -I never tire of adding, "big mighty painful weapon damage"- and stunning the rest is never a bad thing to have.
Can either be set to "preferred" if you want her to be more autonomous, or deactivated when going for combo damage.
So I hope this was helpful or interesting enough for some. Currently playing JoH on Nightmare and can't stop grinning while I watch her auto-tear sh*t apart.
Have a great weekend everyone!
