As a pc player (western europe) i was rather pleased last night to find so many perilous lobbies, granted some people were going for being carried by others by entering with lvl 6's. But all in all it only took 8 runs to get my 5 completes (ctd during one run, two runs i was with people that just didn't seem to do any damage at all and didn't understand the concept of line of sighting enemies so they all run into walls of fire and dont hit you)

Granted as mentioned most of the succesfull runs had a arcane warrior in them, i did keeper for the first couple as thats my perma 20, and then i switched to my elementalist as that one was 16 and thus gave me a headstart on my levels needed.

The levelling one was easy, took my sulevin blade on my lvl 1 katar i never played and went into threathening.

Meh. More Destiny time this weekend I guess, because again, no characters at perilous level.

Odd I just finished a match now and its quarter after two Eastern.

I am wondering with that notification if they need to fix the spawn rate on perilous for it seems higher then before during the fifth segment.

Guess the notification was nothing as I've been right on playing...odd.

PC is at 14469 as of 09:21 CEST.

Wow, you guys are hard to please.

If the challenge is too easy, you whine.

If it requires a little effort, you whine.

I don't play Perilous reguarly either (I have like three completes total, and two are from yesterday) but I think this challenge is a good idea as to give people incentive to get their feet wet. We just need a gentle push in that direction and I'm sure it'll work out just fine.

I think it's a good challenge too (have been anticipating Perilous extractions for a time) and it's good that there's a secondary challenge which everyone can finish. But being unable to finish a Perilous game because you're suddenly transported to an empty no man's land is SUPER annoying, so that I will continue to whine about until I've reached a higher state of emotional balance.

Also worth mentioning is that leveling in itself is the goal this weekend, the Perilous extractions is an individual goal.

My own Perilous challenge attempt is evenly split so far:

  • 4 wipes
  • 4 successes

That last success is going to be the hardest I suspect  :P

'What, you really want to pop open that treasure room? You went down on zone 1 already!' Wipe.

So is anyone in Australia/ NZ playing? I surprisingly can't find any perilous lobbies. I suppose I could go down a few difficulties and just level up the characters that need those collective 10, but that's kinda boring :P

How are the individual platforms going in relation to the goals that we've been set to achieve?

Xbox One won't reach one star in the time projected for two, so a community wipe there I suspect.

PS4 & PC were doing better, but neither were on track if I recall.

I'm focusing on the two personal goals this weekend...  -_-

So, what did they intend with this particular choice of characters?

I mean, they are neither the generally weakest nor the most unpopular ones from a gameplay POV, and they aren't all "inexperienced" from a lore POV. Or is the "Trial of Fire" relating to getting casual players to try Perilous and the agent one is just completely random for kicks?

P.S.: That's it, the Alchemist is my second go-to-character. Crappy unprestigious hybrid characters ftw!

Guess I'll ride my necro for some matches

Kinky, brother!

So, what did they intend with this particular choice of characters?

It shifts people away from the base characters of Lego/Archer/Keeper.

As well as the 'more popular' Reaver/Hunter/Arcane Warrior.

Kind of makes sense and encourages those who have yet to craft a new class to do so...

It also means that the group of casual weekend players who just run with base classes are not contributing to the challenge.

Normally we rely on such players to contribute to the community totals simply by accident.

I guess they might be actually the least played, so I suscpect devs are trying to push people to try them(?)

Wait, how on earth is Necro, Templar and especially Elementalist less popular than Reavers or Hunters?

I mean, I suppose they have the census ratings, but it's the opposite of what I would've guessed.

(Yes I'm grumpy about no Hunter, but then again I was also forced to re-discover the Alchemist, so no harm done)

I am mostly finding empty Peri lobbies or, if I do get on a game, we have a weak host or game crashes non stop, perhaps they can rename it from 'Quick Match' to 'Maybe Match' cause there is nothing quick about it!

Took me nearly 3 hrs to find 8 Peri runs, only couple successful runs, why people insist on opening doors when half the team is in the red is beyond me..

Its kinda funny, as soon as I sent my post off, I found a perilous game. We extracted, but barely and the second game we wiped as the Lego left. Despite having two barrier monkeys (me as a keeper and someone else as an elementalist) we couldn't maintain enough barriers/health and do enough damage. Ah well, at least that's one game down.

I saw you on one of those runs, you were holding it up very nicely but when people start falling in zones 1-4, that's a problem...

I personally love the Necro and I have not used her since I got the 250 banner.  So... yay, I have an excuse to use her again instead of the warrior classes that I have been forcing myself to use for more constitution points.

I like playing alchemists, I just wish my flasks lasted longer..Or I had the reset stealth cool down when you kill an enemy perk..

Cheers, I am only just venturing into Perilous and so far only dare to go in with my Keeper,, :) That match was weird, floating players, crashed twice and managed to get back in the same group...

The DAIMP gods must have heard my complaining, since I picked up the controller once again today and finished a Perilous pug with a my Katari. Granted, the AW and the Keeper that were on the team made that run quite easy. After that I got a Walking Death dagger in the store, the highest damage unique dagger I've gotten so far and with 10% chance to proc Walking Bomb. Almost felt like a make-up gift. Thank you RNGesus!

What you rightly identify is that it is more important:

  • not to be dumb, than
  • to be an uber-player.

Choosing your best class, sticking close to the team, keeping barriers up, pumping out DPS from soft cover all count.

The goal has to be to clear zones 1-4 safely without anyone dropping as zone 5 will be tough enough...

I won't even bother with perilous. Without an HoK ring and top-level weapons, this difficulty would be suicidal for me.

If you haven't the gear, just follow around those who do and cast barrier. Nobody needs a HOK ring for perilous, it just helps a lot.

All that and still you would need a decent pug group comp to extract on perilous, unless your cunning and constitution stats are very high I've been seeing these level 1-7 lowly alchemists try and get perilous challenges. Let's just say it didn't end well.
