I think it's an excellent challenge - surely if success is assured, it's not a challenge.

I only started playing DAMP recently, I'm competent at best, but willing to try. And I've enjoyed the incentive to play perilous. From finding it an irritating aberration to fail gold ME3, it's nice to have something that feels doable given a good team, but far from guaranteed. One successful perilous game out of three (ever) so far.

Looking forward to a Sunday evening of re-levelling my necromancer (having never played the class before Friday, thankfully I've built up pretty good gear playing other classes though) and actually *striving* to get to 5 wins. This is good stuff.

Success is assured if you find a competent group, so if anything this weekend is all about gambling just like the premium boxes you are just gambling with your time.  That is where the gambling for this weekend exists is trying to find a group that knows what to do during the fifth segment for the rest of the match is easy.

The amount of PS4 Perilous PUGs that do great up until Wave 5, then everything goes to hell, is just too damn high!

One completion out of 5 or 6 attempts tonight. Ugh.

Leveling is going crappy as well. Still not to the third star yet. 49,967 as of 11pm EST.

X360 at 9075/15000. Having fun leveling Templar and Necromancer. My friends and I got totally obliterated on our first attempted Perilous run. Archers are no joke, the pain is real.

I've been out the past two nights at party's and drunken barbecues, so I shall try and do my bit for PS4 tonight.

PS4 at 3 stars (60852) at 14.28 GMT+1. I've managed to snag 5 perilous wins and level up my Katari, Assassin and Ele, think I'll go a try to level up my Necro and Alchemist and then consider my work here done for the day.

GreatBlueHeron you can help by providing barriers with the keeper/elementist, or buffing with warhorn on the templar. Take the Healing Mist grenade and use it on others so they can save their potions. Don't charge forward, trigger mobs or open doors unless the carrying players are nearby and ok with doing them. Or at least pick up all the gold pots. I'll tolerate a weak player who does what htey can but not one who plays in a way that brings the whole team crashing down.

I read this yesterday and I want to thank you. I did roll a keeper, but only managed one success out of three. They seemed like a good group---I just suck. Did alright zones one through four. Zone five? Terrible. With four more to go.....I dunno. Maybe I'll try...I'll at least get some gold.

Gonna quote Adventure Time here... Sucking at something is the first step of being kinda sorta good at it :)

Much comes down to practice.

With 12 successful Perilous matches to my name I now suck less than a week ago (when I had 4).

I comparatively still suck but with each match I should incrementally suck less, and so will you  :).

We can both help (as we are doing) by reading what others have said which helps us to avoid very noob mistakes

and helps us to not make the same mistake once.

Did a number more Peri matches today with both Ele and Keeper, did my own personal challenge but helping others get theirs..

Slowly getting better at Peri, I think the best way to go is nice and slowly, work as a team, combo's are very useful in Peri and having at least 2 characters capable of casting barriers helps a lot! (if not on mic keep an eye out for the animation of your other barrier caster(s)so you don't waste any barriers)

Check the mini map, game seems to sometimes spawn enemies behind you in the area already cleared, nothing more annoying than some enemies jumping on your back..

I haven't been able to find a public game all weekend. I've solo'd a couple for the levels challenge but it looks like BioWare's incompetence is going to cost me any chance at the other one.

Same here, Public games have been sparse, lots of 'Unable to connect' or that other message which states 'No compatible matches could be found, please try later'  When you do get in a match there is a fair chance of game crashing or bad host..  Would not surprise me if XBone will fail community challenge because of this.. :(  (we're not even on 2 stars yet)

I think I will never play Perilous again, just out of spite.

Absolutely horrible experience all around.

Took my Level 20 Elementalist with Winter's Grasp, Immolate, Barrier, and Firestorm. Took best equipment I have. Got one successful match out of roughly 4 or 5 last night, then went to bed.

I have since spent the entirety of this morning in hell. Room after room of either failure or, worse in my opinion, rooms that breeze through Zones 1-4 and you think maybe this will be The One, only to have everything go ****** up on Zone 5 and we wipe.

Or you find a good group and complete a match, only to have everyone bail afterwards. Had this happen a few times, ran into two of the individuals we three-manned finished a match with earlier, and I instantly received a kick vote when I entered the lobby. Really confused about that one, as I did not spam Firestorm and I kept everyone Barriered practically 24/7, so I'm not sure what I did exactly to tick off that pair of dwarves (Legionnaire and Alchemist), but I left since that was not going to be a good situation, apparently.

With 2 completions still needed, I FINALLY found someone who knew how to Reaver like a boss with a Sulevin Blade and everything, so I grabbed his coattails and hung on for dear life. Finished second both matches and got the hell outta Perilous at that point.

I just did not have any fun. At all. And I was pulling my weight, being very team-oriented, going with the flow of the group as far as treasure rooms or no treasure rooms. But this just took my migraine headache and amplified it tenfold.

PS4 doesn't seem to have a prayer of making the community goal for leveling and after the nightmare of this morning, I frankly don't even want to touch DAI again today. Civ 5 will be seeing me after lunch.

Friggin' PAINFUL.

EDIT: Oh, and one time I found a good room in-progress and about halfway through the zone, everything started rubber-banding badly and then my PS4 crashed to the main screen. Good times.

I'm sad to hear it. I think the Perilous challenge is one where individual mileage may well vary a great deal, from wonderful to awful.

The challenge description literally applies: Trial by Fire, and we have some smouldering husks to behold.

I don't think that's a reason to not to do challenges like this...

I was lucky to meet people like Eyecon so I'm still pretty pumped about the weekend.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

Really confused about that one, as I did not spam Firestorm

Always spam Firestorm. :)

But don't let it get you down, perilous can be great fun simply because it isn't always a faceroll with good equipment. Imagine if threatening was the top difficulty, people would be getting bored much sooner. I agree, pugs can be douchebags, but there are some decent ones out there.
