Probably due to the fact Bioware recently released another big title in Dragon Age Inquisition and will be busy promoting that and any DLC before Mass Effect 4 starts its marketing cycle.
Why is Bioware waiting so long just to reveal a title? Beyond that so few concrete information

In some cases the fans were justified, in some cases they weren't, but I don't think BW is going to take that risk again. Their philosophy will be to keep things pretty vague until they actually have concrete details.

I think it's mainly because after the ME3 ending a lot of angry fans when back over everything BW said in the years leading up to its release and picked it apart, claiming a host of 'broken promises'.

That didn't stop them from lying through their teeth over Inquisition. I seriously doubt it has anything to do with a lack of information and would be counter productive anyway.

Releasing it in early 2016 would put it around three years after ME3 support ended and over a year after the last BioWare game (DA3).
Doing the big announcement at E3 would give them a little under a year for the hype cycle which seems reasonable.

They should just call it Mass Effect 4, all this headache for a title.
FF12 has nothing to do with FF13, Persona 2 has nothing to do with Persona 3 etc, I don't see the problem with calling it Mass Effect 4.

Probably because they're smart enough to know that pretty much anything they announce is going to significantly ****** people off thanks to the steaming turd of an ending they wrote.

Reboot doesn't necessarily mean rehashing the same cast / plot elements. Red Dead Redemption was a reboot of sorts and nobody even remembers the original because Rockstar curb-stomped it into the dust with bells on.
Revolver was a diamond in the rough, RDR was the full realization of the original promise. It's been a long time since 07. The original Mass Effect was a diamond in the rough who's promise was never truly realized imo - i'm hopeful that we could one day look back at the original games as early crude renditions of a unquestionably superior game which hopefully reaches the audience it deserves.
maybe he was referring to a restart?

Everybody saying they should just call it ME4 should really just stop. They put an end to that nonsense a long time ago, and I'm glad that they did.
Anyway, prolly the reason why they haven't announced the name is that they don't want people (hackers) going into their systems and looking for specific named files. For example, if they released that the game was named "Mass Effect : Chronicles of Earth" then that would lead somebody straight to it. Rather than "Software project black" which might be it.
I dunno though, it might just be the fact that at E3 they're gonna do a huge mega-reveal with the name and all. And then tell us that we are gonna shoot aliens in the face and use biotics to blow the snot out of them. Then turn around and release it right after E3 is over. *crosses fingers praying*
In reality, the truth is prolly somewhere in the middle.

Well, it prolly isn't, yet... They have had the last two (I think) scripts stolen (or datamined).

Yep. I just cringe when I hear or see the word reboot honestly, it is rediculously overused.

I rather have them take their time to properly bake this baby instead of pushing out half baked nonsense and promises that often lead to fans getting very disappointed.
Calm down and relax. Patience pays off in many ways.
I agree.
Plus, I kinda get it. If they're not finished with the project, naming isn't top priority. Sometimes I leave naming my projects until after I've completed it.

The more I think about it the more i'm convinced this is going to be a soft-reboot. Same tech, same races but a totally different story and cast without any connection with the precedent games. While some people rightfully said that the previous game trilogy is too close you have to take into account the endings and the controversy they generated. IMO BW is trying to rebuild the franchise because facing the endings will simply generate more problems. They will soft-reboot it. Thus we will have Mass Effect (2016).
If they do a soft-reboot i hope they retcon thermal clips out and give back the heating system.
That's not a reboot.. that's a restart and more people including you are starting to realize it. Check my thread on a Restart/Reboot theory.

If they ditch the Mass Effect name... they should call it space magic adventures of casper.
To OP: well it's their call... atleast Halo 5 and Deus Ex Mankind divided got announced before E3 which is more than enough for me. If the next Mass Effec game or space magic adventures of casper gets announced I would wait for journalistic and gamer reviews before deciding on getting it

As a Fallout fan who has to deal with Bethesda's "We will wait until the game is nearly finished before even acknowledging it" BS, I do really like that Bioware is acknowledging MEnot4 even when it was years out back then and have had anything to show.
E3 does seem like the most likely place for a teaser trailer.

We already received a teaser of the next Mass Effect at E3 as well as the Mako in action during Comic-Con. I'm expecting actual gameplay or a story-based trailer at E3 this year. The game has been in development since 2013, so it's quite a ways into development at this point.
As to why the next Mass Effect doesn't have a title? BioWare would rather wait before releasing more information about the game. Perhaps the title somewhat spoils what the game will be about. More than likely, we will know the title of the game after E3. I'm happy BioWare is taking their time to create the new Mass Effect. If EA didn't force BioWare to rush ME2 (less than three years development) and ME3 (two years development) out the door, who knows how much better both games could have been. DAI was delayed an entire year and I believe it paid off. Longer development cycles are generally better than shorter ones.

If I was in charge I'd name it Mass Effect Next just to mess with people. Honestly though I'm more worried about the future of ME after ME next and if they make us be an N7 in this game will they just make us be N7 till the series dies from the repetitiveness of "secial forces super soldier dèjavu" that it will eventually cause.

There's a difference between long development cycles with qualified developers (Blizzard, Irrational, Rockstar, BGS, Valve, etc.) and incompetent developers who haven't made a good game in over a decade (Square Enix). Do not confuse the two.

It's entirely possible they haven't even decided on a name yet. Or not until recently. Anyway, I don't actually think revealing the name is particularly important. I just want to know the basic setting and premise. When and where the game is set, who or what you will be playing as the protagonist, what your early or starting purpose is, and how it relates to the previous games. I only want plot information you would learn from playing the first hour of the game or less.
