I enjoyed the main game and was excited to see the DLC. Have enjoyed Hakon so far, esp the Avvar lore. However the Hold mechanic which is necessary to solve those puzzle locks is still VERY BROKEN. I managed to work through that on the main game, however I am really having difficulty with the pressure plate locks in the DLC. I'ts frustrating me enough that I'm probably going to quit playing entirely. I am on PC, using KBM. I've scanned this forum and others looking for hints on how people get around the bad hold mechanic, but none of those things are working for me. After months and months of people complaining, you'd think there would be a fix. DA;O had a great tactical interface that WORKED. Sadly, this game, with so many good things about it, FAILS MISERABLE in this department.
Very Dissappointed...had to stop playing

Tactical Cam + double click in the same spot works for me. Pressing H doesn't seem to work well though. But yes i agree previous DA's were way better in the tactical department.

Is this the light puzzle at the temple? Non-controlled companions (unlike DA:O) don't reset pressure plates

Have to disagree on this. Previous DAs offered way less granularity. The current hold can do everything the previous 'H' toggle did, but it can do a lot more.Tactical Cam + double click in the same spot works for me. Pressing H doesn't seem to work well though. The control scheme just changed. Hold in tac cam to hold everyone (hold in action mode holds controlled character). The clear button clears all holds. That covers all the options available in Origins and II.
In DA:I, double clicking allows me to hold some party members while letting others move freely, something which was impossible in previous games. I would not want to go back to the old all or nothing scheme.
Look, I can understand when people dislike parts of the controls when functionality was lost (I'd still love to have a Move All, so I can rough out new positions faster), but hold isn't one of those cases. It actually gained functionality, and lost nothing.

Hmm... i have to agree with you. I wasn't clear on my post but i was referring to the tactical interface as a whole, not just the hold functionality. Being able to hold position of mages and archers while letting your tank move freely does help a lot against dragons and i can't imagine fighting them without this.

Add mention of DLC mention/hint/spoiler to the title please, some of us haven't played it yet. I stopped reading the OP at "Hakon".

You don't need the companions to solve any puzzles.
