Let's not make the characters into barbie fetish dolls. I already get enough weird looks in real life after people google the game I'm playing and seeing the embarrassingly bad sex scenes.
Art vs Realism vs Immersion, Bioware never go for realism again please.

OP, stop complaining and go play the Witcher or other game like that for god's sake. I'm tired of your pointless threads. And I'm glad that BioWare decided to make their characters more realistic and believable. They have a story, they're not here to please your eye. Majority of games have overly sexualized female characters. I'd prefer to play a game that wasn't made for horny teenagers and I'm happy they finally gave me the opportunity to do this.

Compromise was the wrong word, I should have said choice. I don't even know how you came up with "random things fans thought..." -- if you are able to select from several different outfits created by the same master artists, what's to say against that? I specifically mentioned ME and SWTOR as examples.
Okay so BioWare have made a world and iterated on it a few times and come up with an aesthetic, and at the end of this process we have Cassandra dressed neck to toe in plate. Cassandra's look is consistent with basically any other Andrastian combatant in Thedas, it fits the games style.
Now someone is saying they don't like that and want her to have sexy* armour and a sexy appearance. So you suggest players are given a choice of what style appearance Cassandra has. The thing with that is that added choice doesn't support the overall aesthetic Thedas has, because it was added to appease someone outside of the development process.
That can be a good thing to offer. Player expression is a popular thing, but when you offer it you're reducing the world's consistency and you're also spreading your assets over multiple things. Adding four sets of realistic armours to an otherwise fantasy styled game is four armour choices fantasy minded players effectively won't have.
It's not wrong, but it has costs. I prefer a game with absolute devotion to having one style, because I'm really keen on games that have a strong style.
*I don't really like using sexy here because I don't think it is, but you should know what I mean so lets run with it.

So, in order to get something out of this trainwreck of a topic, can anyone recommend me some good games that don't do what the OP wants DA to do? Preferably on the PS4?
I'm really quite bored of grinding and need a change of pace, could do with some rpg/shooter hybrids, or anything fun, really. Come to think of it, I never played Borderlands and 'The Handsome Collection' is out, I believe... How's Borderlands on this front? And how good is it overall?

If so, try that. Loads of fun.

Yep, played all the Saints Rows sans the first one, good times were had. Although I'm not sure me having my hunky, 100% sex-appeal bulge Boss run around half-to-fully naked all the time properly telegraphs my superior condescension towards the OP's grievances.

Yeah and romance options shouldn't be an issue.. I think Shaundi would be right down his alley. ![]()

And have better character creator.
Volition does better everything than so many developers. Saints Row 1 had this kinda samey ho-hum multiplayer that everything else had. They figured it was kind of old hat, so they did one better and made the entire damn campaign for Saints Row 2 co-op. That's stuck into SR3, SR4, and beyond. Then there's the character customization, different voices (with different lines, no less), a ton of different walking styles, etc.
If only some other company would pay attention to that. Hint. Hint.

Having just bought and completed Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands the Presequel, and Tales from the Borderlands in the last few weeks, I'll fully recommend it! (though not so much the first one, which you don't need to play).
Amazingly good fun, lot's of cool loot, good plot/quests/characters. It's an RPG in the sense that you level up and have skills, and side quests, not in the "role-playing" sense. You choose 1 of 4-6 characters and can unlock different heads/colours for them, and they all have unique skills they can use. You can play it multiplayer (splitscreen/online), though I haven't really tried that part of it.
Doesn't do what the OP wants Dragon Age to do, it has some of my favourite female character designs. They are designed to be "attractive", but more in the sense that they look really cool and you want to play as them, not in the "97% naked to appeal to teenage boys" sense. The presequel even has an equal number of male/female playable characters, which is depressingly rare in other games...
I've mainly played it on PC, not The Handsome Collection, but I've picked The Handsome Collection up and played it for a bit, I just like playing games on PC more. I'll stop gushing now! ![]()

I am... not sure the Witcher merits mention in this context. For all the criticism it gets in this regard, its female protagonists' outfits are fairly decent. No chainmail bikinis there.
Hi OP.
I agree with you.
Give us this:

OP:
sure, as long as every male (including the player character) would look like this:
in the other hand... i wouldn't play such game in fear of going blind
You guys mean like in God of War? Or DMC3?
I had no problem with those games ![]()
But, back to the OP. Seriously, man, we feel your pain, but have a little pity on the poor horse, will you? We get it, you don't like the artstyle. Not a particularly big fan of it either. Dragon Age has always had this problem where it seems incapable of deciding whether it wants to be over-the-top or genuinely realistic.
Either way, you've already put your complain forward and it's already been heard. Don't think there's anything else you can do about it. Go play something else. Have some fun. Attractive people aren't scarce, certainly not in fiction.

I think Cassandra is very beautiful because she looks just like my oldest sister, minus a few discrepancies like eye color, hair length, and scars.
Probably the reason why I take is slightly personally when people insult her appearance.
You have pics of your sister. For, ummm, comparison's sake.
(I'm kidding. I just find Cassandra incredibly attractive.)

Glam rock died out for a reason, I don't the inclusion of it's hairstyle would be particularly helpful to the appeal of the game. Also Cassandra is fine in an unconventional. warrior woman. Xena-esque fashion

What personally annoys me is the romance-gating Bioware seems to be increasingly fond of, be it either the race kind (no love for you, master dwarf!) or the sexual orientation kind (nope! straight only!).
BW says that to make realistic, believable characters, they need to include their sexual orientation. I can agree with this for some characters; for example Dorian would have been very hard to imagine as non-gay; his story revolves around him being homosexual, and that's good! His character was actually one of the few much-appreciated dashes of colour in an otherwise drab and uninspiring DA sequel. The problem, however, is that a- Bioware writing already fell into the [Bottomless Hole of Budget Cuts +5], so the 'solid writing' argument sounds almost unwittingly comical, and that b- it yet again restricts players in their choices without any pressing need. I feel that much could have been gained in this respect if Bioware had simply invested a little more effort (probably most cost-intensive: the VA) into making all characters available to all players (with the occasional exception where writing actually DOES require it, i.e. Dorian). I can see no compelling reason to introduce race-gating or sexual-orientation-gating for the rest, i.e. I fail to see the advantages whereas the disadvantages seem quite clear to me.
In this respect, that decision BW made is yet another drop in the 'pffff player choice, we got GOTY' bucket, along with the (admittedly more important) absence of 'dark side' choices, for example. And it is an example where I'd prefer less realism in favour of more player choice.

I wonder if perhaps there is a compromise here - one thing I really like about DAI is how I can customise my party member's appearance. For example, I found Bull, Varric and Vivienne's semi-exposed chests to be rather unpractical, but I always had the option to give them different armour which had heavy plate, chest plates, etc. to give them a more practical look which I preferred.
