Because there is no canon when it comes to the the factors that vary by world state, there are discrepancies between the default and other portions of the media, like the comics. 

 

Default just means default. It neither validates nor invalidates anything.

Err...this is debatable. What will I write will sound a little hater, but I do not see much difference from other worlds to default, I just see mentions and appearances of some characters.

It's not debatable at all. If it can vary, there is no canon for that variable. That's as cut and dry as it comes.

Not true. Things like the archdemon being killed are canon. Things like the soul being used to create the OGB are not. If there were no canon period,, BioWare would never be able to write a conclusive story, and they can barely do that.

Not true. Things like the archdemon being killed are canon. Things like the soul being used to create the OGB are not. If there were no canon period,, BioWare would never be able to write a conclusive story, and they can barely do that.

Well things like killing the Archdemon aren't choices so I don't define that as canon per say, just an integral part of the story structure.

We can quibble about the importance of the variances all day, but it has very little to do with the topic. 

 

Those variances exist and there is no official canon version of them.

But really there is no Canon. Notice Bioware always kills a great many characters in their canons to reduce work load. Honestly I think people only obsess over the defaults because of what gender the PC is. Then again I'm jaded by Tumblr.
