I'm on PC.  I remember the olden days when we have HUUUUGE quick-use icon pallettes at the bottom, where any character could have their entire repertoire of powers at their fingertips.

Now, I'm stuck with 8 hotkeys.  I thought I'd be able to swap out hotkeys in the middle of battle, but this doesn't seem the case.  Can console players make use of any power through whatever means in the middle of a fight?

Not in DA:I, unfortunately. We could in DA:O and DA:2 with the radial menu, so it irks me.

Yes I miss the radial menu, though I do like that the quick slots are now 8 instead of 6. Hopefully they leave it as is and include the radial menu next game.

Me too. Not to mention I almost never use the radial menu in its current state. It doesn't do very useful things, and nothing you can't do better in the tactical cam.

I'd like it a lot better if you had the 8 quick slots/hot keys AND the Radial Menu. Because as it is you either sacrifice 1 (or 2) slots for focus based abilities that are useful to have but rarely used. I'd like to have those in the Radial Menu, along with the Revive spell, and keep the 8 slots for regular skills/spells.

Have you ever played Diablo 3? It's a rather successful game which people literally play for months despite three being really not that much content -endlessly replaying one chapter which you already completed until you get item drops to allow you to move on and endlessly replay the next chapter: every publisher wants to make such a cheap, short game that people will not put down for years.

Guess how many skills you get in Diablo 3? Six (that means that you lose the ability to execute an attack with your weapon, reducing your weapons to cosmetic stat sticks that simply determine the damage of your abilities). Guess whether it is possible to swap skills mid-fight? Of course not, swapping skills incurs a lengthy cooldowns.

Looking at the mountain of failed wow clones, it's not hard to see why they limit you to eight abilities.

Best you can do is target your enemy, switch to tactical and hover to find their resistances and vulnerabilities then pick the hotkeys you think you're going to need before the fight starts.  For the big fights.

Anyone thought of a better way to do it?

I liked being able to expand the bar across the bottom of the screen for 20 slots in DAO.
