so i notice my companions are performing poorly.

i took control of them and they should be performing really well.

for example i made iron bull an sns reaver. when i controlled him he was destroying everything with dragon rage. then i let the ai control him and he just hits with his basic attack. all i want him to do is use dragon rage. thats it.

 

then vivienne wont spam fade cloak and spirit blade. i dont want her to use basic attack. 

 

i swear this game is only hard because of the poor battle commands. 

 

is there any way to have iron bull just spam dragon rage?

Assuming you've already set the skill to preferred and made sure he has 0% stamina reserve and have those skills in the 8 active slots, no. The AI is gonna do what the AI is gonna do (or not do, as the case may be).

 

I have noticed AI Vivienne occasionally using Spirit Blade, but never Fade Step. I've also seen AI Iron Bull use Dragon Rage once followed by Devour once. Then back to auto attacks.
