It would definitely cause loading times, which is a major disadvantage, but at least it can be done.  I wouldn't be concerned with the practicality of doing it in the middle of a fight, since as Lance says you're usually not going to want to do that.

Hi Tchos,

Yes, as you say, loading times would have an impact, especially as we would be travelling from mod to mod. When I get the time, I may still test this to see what kind of time you need. Although, playing a movie normally comes when the player wants to sit back and watch it ... after "a great event" ... which helps to alleviate the short wait.

Hi psiiijay,

"CLIPS": Sorry, I may have misunderstood your needs. I have not played FF and so I don't know what format these take. When you mentioned .mov and .avi, I thought you meant things like .bik files, which can only be played at the start of a module. As I said in my last post, most other "cutscene" like "movies" are done via cutscene camera work, which as you say, can be quite involved. Also, if you intended to introduce/play these clips during the middle of a combat, you have the added difficulty of keeping the "scene" the same as the player finds themselves in, unless (I guess) you are saying the clip introduces something from a distance (which is what I think you are now saying).

E.g. Mid battle, the players get a "cutscene" of a dragon flying in from over the hills. You wanted to make this a "movie" appearance rather than a traditional "cutscene" from how I read you now.

Assuming I have understood you correctly this time, then I can see no way of doing it apart from using cutscene camera work (using user defined static cameras, etc). Yes, it could be quite involved, but not impossible. For instance, I know DANNJ designed creatures made to appear to fly in using spell effects, which I have now incorporated into my own campaign. Couple this visual effect with carefully placed cameras and I imagine you could make some pretty good cutscene movies relatively straight forward by comparison. (Try checking out DANNJ flying wyvern code to see what I mean: http://neverwinterva...ooping-wyvern.)If you can master this kind of visual effect, then you should be able to do all sorts of great "movies" for your mod.

Cheers,
Lance.

Yeah thats what I was aiming for:))

I know this add on - Didn't have time to check it but it looks like what I need.. If you do try putting a clip up in the middle on the game I'd be really happy if you share the results:)
