I read there is a side quest called Beasts at Bay in JoH, but I've been unable to find it. The dragon age wiki days "travel due north of the basin floor camp until you find a clearing with some tents and the baron".

When I travel due north, i run into large tree almost immediately, so not sure how thats supposed to work, but going around the tree, i travel straight north until i hit the river camp, but never found this clearing. I tried traveling back and forth and zig zagging all over, but never found it. I did find some tents once, but there was no baron (there was a dead body though). Fruatratingly, I can't even find this area again. Either i keep getting turned aroud, or a bug is preventing this baron from showing up.

Does anyone have a map that pinpoints the exact location of where this quest is?

The baron is indeed due north from the first camp, but he won't be there from the start. He only appeared for me when I had progressed through some of the quests in the DLC - I think I had done On Ameridan's Trail at that point.

Complete Lead the Charge, then it's followup Jawbreaker. The Baron sets up camp just NNW of the Oculara North of camp.
