So, it's gone. My primary playthrough saves became corrupted the other day and had to be deleted. Almost 450 hours of gameplay and story, gone. The story of Inquisitor Marcus Trevelyan has come to an abrupt, soul crushing halt at the height of its time.

Maybe it's for the best, I've skirted my Nightmare playthrough often enough because I enjoyed the utter devastation my Normal build party left in it's wake. Even in Jaws of Hakkon I felt little in the way of a challenge; I popped out to a weapons and armor stand any time I needed to adjust my party and their gear.

But being the Internet age, I'm genuinely curious: Has anybody encountered a data scramble as bad as this? I had something in the area of a hundred save files that where all ruined in the corruption. Is this something that's happened to a few people or did Karma single me out specifically to screw over?

I did on one save. Thankfully I had other saves with the same character and was able to backtrack not that far from where it got corrupted. I'm not sure what caused it to be honest, but it happened to me.

What platform are you playing on? How did it happen?

Can't speak for the OP, but for me it was on the PC.

On Dragon Age no I've had corrupt saves on Fifa before though also on Codemasters F1 games once or twice but I don't suffer them often.

I'm mostly asking to see if it happened because of mods and see if there is a way around to help you.

Ah. No it wasn't due to any mods, as I don't have any installed.

I've had that happen to me on Xbox One before. I didn't lose all of my saves but I did lose like the last 1 or 2 save files for each quizzy I had (about 8 files in total).

I went to start up the game one night and the Xbox froze during the 'enumerating save files' popup that comes up when you first load. I couldn't do anything on the X1 (back out to the home page, turn off the controller, nothing) so I had to hard reset my X1. When I went to restart DAI, it told me the save files were corrupt. Thankfully they were all just autosave files at Skyhold but it was still nerve wracking for it to happen.

I've had about 8 instances of corruption... OPTIONS corruption. Like loosing all my settings and needing to redo screen position and everything. No actual playthrough corruptions, just settings. It got to the point where every time the game froze I wasn't sure if I'd have to redo my settings again. It always happened if the game from during an autosave, somehow it's the settings that would get corrupted instead of the main file.

My male dwarfquisitor on my XBone has some sort of save file corruption. Whenever I load him in the BE, his appearance changes to an bald albino, and if I save the game, his name changes to a random chain of letters of numbers, like RTGSFUG78GBFAHKUGFDS2... His class also disappears from the save file data.

I had that happen on PC between Patch 1 and Patch 2, but I was able to recover from the autosave. It seemed to happen as I was synching cloud storage with my local saves. Hasn't happened since (but I no longer sync the cloud storage with my local drive.).

It happened to me on PC when the game crashed during the autosave itself.  That file was listed on the reload screen as a corrupted save, but the quicksave just before was fine.
