Everyone is just arguing about alien Hip Hop and I'm sat here enjoying Ariana Grande.

I agree completely that Mos Def was the pick of the bunch but Em and Black Thought still went hard.

My two favorite verses. Jay z died horribly.

I can walk on water. I do it all the time.

Most Canadians can. Well, in winter, anyway...

Any guy that would marry this-

enhanced-buzz-10015-1335923979-10.jpg

Is very much indeed..... Special.

But not special in like a "Oh my God, what an amazing talent" or "Wow, this is so special we might never see such greatness like this again" type of special.

No no, more like special in the "hurr durr hurr durr muh raps is gud, hurr durr hurr durr" type of way.

Are you saying Kim is ugly?

0687aa87de2bbb21f13dc0d181114f39-e140552

She's a pretty woman no doubt and I like a nice ass although it's unfortunate she's gone overkill on her implants down there as it looks unnatural now. Still, she's a pretty woman with a nice sculpted face. Any man saying she's ugly is being completely dishonest or is a massive flaming homosexual.

Of course it's fair game to hate her for her personality/ego if you want but I honestly find her husband who declares himself "God" to be more annoying.

No way. Em is dope if only for the fact that he murks people on their own s***.

Hate him or love him, Em can rap.

Terribly now.

My point that Eminem is overrated still stands, as does my statement that Hip-hop is dead.

You're already wrong, objectively. Regardless of what you're actually into, Hip-Hop was never dead. And with all the artists that are enjoyed today it's definitely in a good place. Seriously, when are people going to hop off that hyperbole?

indeed when she was younger...

That has become a retard ass now!

And a nice balance between "up there" and "down there" is perfect!

Ok, you might wanna sit down for this: HIP-HOP is DEAD BECAUSE:

- The genesis of Hip-hop was struggle, making it against the odds, "coming up". Today most Rap lyrics are about fashion. There is no struggle anymore

- R&B and Hip-hop are indistinguishable

- Drake ... enough said

- Kanye may actually be mentally challenged

- Lyrics/writing has hit an all time low

- Auto-tune

- Disney channel kids all have "Hip-Hop albums"

- Rappers from Canada or Britain have fake southern accents

- Eminem is so hacky and desperate he stoops to stealing lyrics

- Many "artists" do not tour because they can't, as they have no DJ or stage presence and their album was created using technology 1st, their talent a distant 2nd

- EDM is ruining everything, including hip-hop

I know, I know:

You're trolling but I'll address this seriously anyway. Let me preface this by saying I'm not actually up in arms that you think Hip-Hop is dead. The discussion is engaging since it's about a genre of music I enjoy talking about with anyone willing to start a discussion I take interest in. Anyway...

First and second bullet points are false. R&B has nowhere near the intricate wordplay of a lot of Hip-Hop songs and is more focused on the melodic aspect of music. The harmonies. Struggle lyrics are as much a part of Hip-Hop today as they've always been. If you don't stick to only listening to what the radio feeds you or paying attention to who's popular you'll see that.

Whatever Drake or Kanye is to you is irrelevant to the status of Hip-Hop.

Wack lyricists have been around in every era. Bad apples aren't spoiling the bunch.

Personas have always been a part of Hip-Hop. Fake accents are about as fraudulent as a correctional officer acting like a drug dealer. I get your beef but it's not that serious.

Eminem's lack of talent is also irrelevant to the state of Hip-Hop

I doubt you have any evidence for this epidemic lack of touring but it's not affecting anything apparently.

I don't listen to EDM but it sure isn't having a meaningful effect on what I listen to so... yeah.

No troll. Just a friendy debate/discussion.

Also, Kanye & Drake are leaders of this music. To say their image/mental capacity/talents are irrelevant is ridiculous. Unfortunately, they are guiding Hip-Hop

While Em has certainly fallen of (he's much calmer now so his music lost it's edge), dude will still murk anyone on their own s***.

But I agree with hip hop not being dead.
I was a child of the 90s and there was a lot of crap then too.
IMO, the only difference was that there was a lot of good s*** in the mainstream as well to balance it out.

There's still a lot of good s*** out there.

They're not though. Not in the sense that people are trying to occupy the same space as they do. Drake's the unoriginal mainstream darling that people gravitate to for his catchy music that bites various peoples' styles before him and his melodic vibe. Kanye's the average rapper who's production captures the attention of the masses. Jay-Z's not doing what they do. J. Cole's approach isn't the same. Kendrick Lamar just went even more left and is definitely not occupying the same space. Drake and Kanye may be big name and have influence but it's not all encompassing enough to be steering Hip-Hop in unwanted directions. The age of the internet, with many different artists, makes that almost impossible.

Him being calm isn't the problem. He legit raps exponentially worse than before because of his change in flow and delivery. He's become so obsessed with the art of rhyme, putting unlikely words together in unlikely ways, that the end product just comes across straight up terrible regardless of its technical proficiency.

Which would definitely translate to him actually murking anyone on their own sh*t. He's not that good anymore. People in his own camp are better than he is.

Ah gotcha. As much as I like Em, he is really bad for that nowadays.

And it isn't any coincidence that the cyphers he's been in with Slaughterhouse, they've all come out stronger than him.

Eminem was better back in the day, weather it's his age or other factors, his skill has been going down hill admittedly. Still like him regardless though, as long as I don't think about "berserk" and focus on "rap god".

Relapse really had gems. Sucks that it got no respect from critics because that was the last semblance of music that felt reminiscent of old Eminem and not because of the horror core elements. Dude's flow was on point.

I loved Relapse. I haven't really enjoyed an Em album like that since TES.

Eminem's flow does not sound as smooth as it does on the older songs. Being a huge eminem fam who started from the outsidaz I blame this.

Now let us analyze this ****. Multisyllabic rhyming is very difficult when you want to have a good flow to go with it. I mean let us count the number of mainstream to semi mainstream rappers that do it these days.

A$ap Rocky

Earl Swearthsirt

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FcDXL5Aw0o

Vic Mensa

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3MvpPQWYo0

Kendrick Lamar

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5eT6TaEtPI

they are more but these are my favorite. There is a thin line between being choppy and having something smooth when rappers are doing multisyllabics and with these cases, these guys are spacing out where they have their rhymes hit.  Let us look at more extreme cases.

Afura

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r321LDzaLA4

Aesop Rock

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEBGCOCxLgA

A bit more choppy that the examples above.

Now they are a few rappers that manage to completely eliminate that choppiness but still have complex rhyme schemes. A few of my favorite examples.

Favorite Examples

Legend

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbvePryw7ao

So smooth.

Bonus :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooOL4T-BAg0

These days rappers just do two rhymes at the end of their bars. It provides for a smoother flow and allows them to add more filler content and more room to play around with it more. Jay-z is impressive because even though he did not stack a complex rhyme scheme, his flow is always impeccable.

Present Day Eminem : He is obsessed with coming up with the most complex rhyme schemes ever. He is the like the dopest mainstream underground rapper. Problem with this is that his flow becomes much more choppy.

At times it works

At times it fails horribly.
