You're very obviously parroting what the media has told you to believe on the subject at hand without actually considering and creating your own opinion.

oh, really? the only thing that "the media" tells me frequently is that much more people are killed by guns in the usa than in germany or other countrys with stricter weapon laws.
serious question: do you have less burglaries in the usa because more people have guns? is it statistically safer because more people have guns? and, most important: when people in other countrys can live their lifes perfectly without guns, why do you need them?

in my opinion it is definiteley wrong to sell guns in the super market like, for example, bananas (this is what i know). and btw also in germany you can own guns (currently there are about 5,5 million registered guns), but with certain requirements to comply. imo the better way. and unlike in the usa you cant buy assault rifles in germany, they are treated as war weapons and are banned from privat property by the war weapons control act. again, imo, the better way.

and i just cant understand how some people can say things like "this wouldnt have happened when the teachers have had guns" or "we need more guns at public facilities" after amok runs. this is just ridiculous imo.

how ironic that german manufacturers produce some of the most used/most popular weapons in the world... i think everyone knows the HK MP5 or the Leopard2 tank...

What's ironic is that Germans support gun control.

Just to clarify something. Most civilains can't own assault rifles. It requires a lv3 license and tons of money to get that license to own a fully automatic weapon which is what an Assault rifle is. Civilians own semi-automatic rifles. There is a difference. It is illegal to mod an AR(ArmaLite Rifle model 15. The original name given. People just made it a broad term.) Most AR, AKs, SKS are semi-automatic weapons like most modern day pistols. Please use correct terminology next time. :)

It's even worse when the media calls an assault rifle a "machine gun".

That is why people fear stuff like this. If only people did their own research, instead they go off of false media information.

This is akin to my own thoughts on guns. I'm not anti gun, I just don't think they should be given out like candy and I find the US mentality to be almost fanatical about it sometimes. The US is hardly more safe then a lot of countries that have stricted gun laws.

I once had a guy who was pro guns in America say he could prove that less gun laws made it safer by telling me that in Washington or something they allowed people to carry guns around freely and there was no gun deaths for 2 days....

2 days! CALL THE GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS FOLKS! The mere fact he thought that was proof is far more concerning to me.

Shoulder thing that goes up? lolwut?

I find it odd that so many people who are against guns:

1. Have never owned one.

2. Have never fired one.

3. Live somewhere where you can't even buy them.

*shrug*

Back on topic.

My father has one like this.

SW_625-JH01.jpg

S&W Model 625. In .45 ACP.  You have to use moon clips since .45 ACP is a rimless cartridge. Pretty neat.

It's the classiest firearm in my safe right now, by far.

What do we need them for, you ask? Hunting, sport shooting, home defense/self defense, and, in the absolute worst case scenario possible, defense against an oppressive government.

I don't have stats at the moment, but I can tell you that I would rather have a gun and never need it than have myself or someone in my family be a victim of a home invader or a rapist or some junkie hopped up on hard drugs.

Now let's leave the gun politics aside and get back to the thread's original topic.

My AK rifles:

AK002.jpg

^Romanian WASR 10/63 in 7.62x39.^ This was from the day I purchased it back in 2012. It has wood like this now.

^Century AKMS^ This one was built here in the US, with a mix of American and Polish parts.

Fun fact: Steel AK magazines make excellent bottle openers.

Nice. I was thinking of getting one, but the 300 yard range isn't enough for me. I need something with a larger reach.

I find that it's increasingly difficult to find a water gun that actually works for any extended period of time. A lot of them are super cheap and break easily.

Isn't there also a company that creates AKs with American and Russian parts? They had a partnership with Izhmash but I guess that ended with the sanctions.

You guys need to find yourselves an old XP 70.

super_soaker_xp_70.jpg

I swear, they're like the AK of the Super Soaker world in terms of reliability.

As for range, you can still shoot quite a ways with an AK, especially with upgraded sights or optics.  Just don't expect the pinpoint accuracy of an AR.

I hear that 5.45x39 AKs are more comparable to AR rifles in terms of accuracy. I don't have any hands on experience with them though. As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to AKs, most glorious 7.62 is the only way to go.
