I think you've confused "fun mixup of factions that many people have been asking to try out again with a fun lore way for us to turn it on," with "punishment".

Mixed factions is intended. It is not a bug. This is a live service, and therefore we always look for ways we can change things up from time to time to keep things interesting.

For those that enjoy a challenge, or just want to experience something fun and a bit different, we encourage you to play some matches *this week*.
