I have an Xbox 360 with a fully completed ME1 saved character.  I'm 99.9% sure I had an autosave at the finish because I always select autosave if it is an option (this would be the 1st game I never selected autosave if I did not select it).  It does acknowledge my ME1 character because it shows all of the stats from that game and gives me the option to choose him, however after I choose him and the game loads the following appears "A sign-in change occurred. Sign out of your gamer profile to continue."  I signed in and out of my profile at least 10 times and nothing changed.  I don't understand what the problem is!  I was on hold with EA for a half-an-hour, waited to chat with EA for a half-an-hour and then they cut me off, and I have emailed them too.  I'm thinking an individual gamer would better help me than EA right now, any advice?

I had the same problem, but I just fixed it through a work-around. Was on the phone with support and eventually I lost connection. Typical luck. So I popped in ME1 and replayed the final battle and let the credits roll, made sure it saved, popped in ME2 and imported the updated character. It worked perfectly fine.

It sucks that I'm in college and left ME1 at home thinking I wouldn't need it since I'd be getting the new and "improved" version :(. Anyone have any other bits of advice?

I replayed the story a couple times with the same character, and now I can't upload it because I'm halfway through a fourth playthrough. Pain in the ass.

I did the same thing.  I'm left my character at the auto save right before Ilos( third or fourth playthrough).  From what I can see, all you need is at least one game completion.  It let me import the character previously mention without any problems.

In another topic I wrote:

I had similar issiues as OP, but I've found what's causing it.

The problem is as follows:

if you have an offline account on which you play ME2 - all is good and working.

BUT

if you have an LIVE account and at the time of starting ME2 you ARE NOT CONNECTED to Live [ie. network cable disconnected form the console] - this problem appears. Game ask you to log out due to a change in signin in. The, after you log in [but are still disconnected from LIVE] you CAN'T import any character, because the same message appears - a problem with signing in.

So.. Either:

1) have an offline account;

2) be always connected to LIVE

3) wait for BioWare to patch this, as it's an obvious omission on their part [probably they didn't test it];

Hope it helps.

I also played thru multi times and never deleted end game saves. Seems that the the saves that were made at lvl 59 or below all made it thru. All the rest are mia.

This is probably true.  I have a LIVE account and that's the profile I'm trying to play the game with except I'm playing it offline.  It's not working...keeps telling me to sign out because there's a "sign-in change".

BioWare needs to patch this because I can't be connected to LIVE everytime I play this game.

I had to just bite it and start a new character in ME2. I went thru 3 RRoD returns and upgraded to a 250g HDD since I last played ME1. I didn't have any end of game saves for ME1, I only have a few that are in the middle of the game on a second playthru.

It is a real bummer, because the parts of the story in ME2 that are totally diffferent from my choices in ME1 stick out like a sore thumb and kind of hamper the immersion. I am pretty frustrated about all the prerequisites needed for your saves to transfer. I am being screwed over yet again because my Xbox broke thru no fault of my own.

I thought it wasn't working cause I had to move all my saves from my 120HD to the 250HD. My last game save is after completing the DLC Pinnacle Station. It might be looking for a save that happens after you complete the game which is just retarded because of the 2 DLC packs the released after the game. This was a feature I was looking forward too. I really wanted to continue the storyline I created. Either I have to wait for them to patch it or go to Gamestop and get ME1 used, finish it again and then return within 7 days.

I don't think that is the case about the ME1 DLC and when it was played vs when you finished the game. I played through ME1 on my new xbox because my old one was stolen and there went my save files. As soon as I beat the game, I then went and played Fire in the Sky and beat that. Then I started Pinnicle Station, but never completed it. My import from ME1 to ME2 went smooth.

I had like 5-6 saved games show up on the list to import. Top one was selected and Green.

I tried to use the LS to scroll down and no go...went back, replayed, re-import try..etc..etc.

Then I used the D pad to scroll down and it went to all of them. I selected the one I wanted and imported.

I do not know if my saves always worked or if I did something trying this and that.

I did notice I had multiple saves named "Citadel Tower" that i went thru and deleted and deleted

as much other stuff as I could. Again, I do not know if it always worked,and I was stupid for not using the Dpad, or if it was deleting old saves and replaying.
