Are the DLC maps (Hazard don't count) better then original maps.

This is where I wanted to go with that last topic. Because you see, I think outside of two maps (Condor/Goddess), the DLC maps failed big time (especially with Rio & London).

So the topic is level layout designAnd how they contribute to gameplay (fun or not) & replay value (again, fun or not).

(Hazard maps are nothing new but BioWare ripping us off and wasting out time. So forget these abominations. As in, if folks had to pay money for the same content, then they would seriously have made some serious noise and maybe BioWare would of responded with another real map to ME3mp lineup instead of nothing for last DLC. Especially since a map was totally complete, just never released)

Best: White (Not the Hazard variant)

Worst: Rio

The Rest are ok. Overall the vanila maps are (maybe not by much, but sill) better than any DLC map, except the needed changes to White. It's a far better map now.

Enemies everywhere! Whatever, a map is a map is a map. Something needs to die there? Let's go kill 'em all and let Harbinger sort it out. Like them all for one reason or another but prefer some to others by a long shot. Ghost Hazard (abomination or not) is probably my favorite of the entire lot.

Also I'm not sure how you can equate free dlc as being a rip off. We didn't have to pay a cent for them so we were not ripped off in any way, shape, or form. Entitlement much? I think you has some.

Can only compare Hazard maps to the original ones because they are variations of the original maps, the other DLC maps cannot be compared because they are just different and have their own pros and cons and being totally different than the original maps is always a good thing just because it adds to the replay value of the game much more than the hazard maps.

Hazard Glacier - No

Hazard White - No

Hazard Dagger - No way in Hell

Hazard Ghost - Depends

Hazard Giant - Maybe

Hazard Reactor - Yes

Meh - I'm pretty sure the DLC maps were all designed to screw over camping... which has the interesting side-effect of making upload objectives occasionally iffy; doesn't quite work on Rio with the box of shame. They all seem to be designed to screw you over if you don't keep moving, especially Goddess with the spawn point in the room up top.

Overall, I'm absolutely fine with that - I remember back in ye olde days the FBW/G/G camping room - or the Platinum camping room on Glacier which some people on my friends list at the time thought was the way to go. All the DLC maps are easier if you stay mobile IMO.

Depends. This is how I'd rank them (I like ranking things)

1. White

2. Vancouver

3. Reactor

4. Goddess

5. Ghost

=  London

7. Jade

8. Giant

9. Glacier

10. Hydra

11. Dagger

12. Condor

13. Rio

I rank Condor over Rio because it has potential, The bugs made it an annoying map. Rio on the other hand is just terrible design. In general, I dislike maps that are too one-dimensional and favor one type of gameplay heavily over others. Rio, Dagger and Hydra are prime examples of these.

Glacier is too small a map. But its hazard variant is my second most favorite map in the game.

Folks enjoy the Vancouver map that much...

Well, this topic might still have some hope to go deeper in discussion level design wise of the DLC maps... *steak gif image on hold*

Vancouver is one of the nicest maps for an Infiltrator, so many long sight lines and open fields of fire, so much available cover.

Vancouver is perfect in terms of the design. It is one of the few maps that plays with vertical scaling. But it doesn't compromise the horizontal playing field either.

There's plenty of cover. Dagger and Hydra also have the vertical aspect to it but Vancouver beats that because its horizontal areas are not wide open. There's plenty of cover available so that CQC characters can make cautious movements towards the enemy without being mowed down by drones and turrets.

Vancouver doesn't favor one playstyle over the other. Dagger and Hydra are wonderful if you're a snipe. But they suck if you're a melee character or a CQC character.

It's a map where all objectives are equally good/bad. Certain objectives on certain maps are absolutely horrible - jade devices, london hacks etc. Vancouver doesn't have that sort of bias.

The only downside is that it's visuals aren't as appealing as Hydra or Jade or even Goddess. Still good though.

The only reason it isn't my #1 is because banshee warps sometimes magically go through walls. It's an issue with all DLC maps unfortunately. If that issue weren't there, Vancouver would have been my #1.

I find London & Rio worst with most setups. And for Rio, you better make sure you're wearing Adren Mod 3 too. London is also so boring because it mostly feels like the whole stage takes place on one level floor plane.

Vancouver doesn't seem to work that well enough with everything to be #1 DLC map (or at least I find Condor & Goddess to do handle more setups better). One funny thing in particular happened to me tossing homing nades from the highest spot toward a Ravager near the starting map point, only for it to hit the wall above. That made me face palm.

Vancouver for me is right in the middle of well designed maps for the DLCs. It also looks great, so can't why you don't think it looks fine enough. It reminds me of that Shadow Broker DLC where you're flying through the city. And that's always a great feeling.  :)

Jade introduces some nice variety that works with well enough with any kit/setup.

And Hydra make more sense as a Volus (actually every stage makes more sense at Volus height.  :D I highly recommend because introduces to many more options to how you move around any map).

Goddess is a really great map too. Glad many like this map too, so I don't have to say anything about it.

Condor is so underrated because many just don't know how to move on this map. There's plenty of cover everywhere too, plus enough escape routes. This map has many different floor planes too. So much variety on this map. Looks really great too.

No, it's because folks say cover doesn't work. Which also means my search for these broken covers continue...

But lets not focus on just beautiful Condor. Let's be sure all maps get plenty of chit chat love. ... Oh yeah, Rio has glitched ammo boxes too. 3 nades per 3 ammo boxes?! :o What madman was testing this stage.  (Especially when one of them is the box of shame ammo box that keeps up in supplying all the Scrub Matrixes & Scrub Stims & Carrier ARs )
