Yep. Old topic of mine getting a revisit. Just checking to see where folks stand on this issue these days.

Basically, I still believe missiles should only be used to save teammates and other emergency situations. Otherwise always rocketing stuff like objective waves & spawns says to me that either; (1) your bored for whatever reason and want this match over with; (2) epeen; (3) you're not confident in the team staying alive long enough or you staying alive long enough if you don't change targets; (4) epeen; etc.

So I ask, what's the rush? Isn't taking out targets as a team way more fun instead of nuking everything instantly and be done with it in place of actually playing the game? There doesn't even have to be any rush to get it done. Game gives you a ton of time to get it done & have fun while at it. So if safety is an issue, just make sure the mooks around a boss, yourself & pugs are taking care of first. And continue having fun shooting things is it's own reward instead of playing magician and making things disappear with rocket space magic.

This is also why pugging with fresh pugs is so much fun. They don't like to waste rockets outside of extraction wave, they don't know how to cheese, and no one can Rambo solo = Voila! The game working as intended! ... Too bad I can still solo.  But good thing I choose to wipe instead of solo..  :D

I don't use missiles.   There's only one thing I need on each run.....

Lol. Liar :P

On topic, my missiles have one main use, and one only: rage.

Then sometimes I also use them to help with objectives too, if I still have some

1) I don't know what pugs you've been playing with, but the ones I get missile the first Banshees of the game.....which is the 1st on wave 3, then the respawn, cuz they only have 2 missiles.  <_<

2) Tokenusername, is that you? You're posting a lot.

I don't care one way or the other. Just communicate over the mic on missile usage IMO. I have no problem with a target swap with a rocket, I have no problem if you want to take the target out normally. If you want quicker clearance times a rocket to swap targets is a good idea. It's not that big an issue on the scoreboard anyways IMO.

Optimal rocket use is IMO just a good skill to have when pugging. You don't "need" it with some teams but it surely does make life easier on some players. A target switch to an easier target type will shorten the wave and thus probably bleed less consumables out of lesser players especially those rage gelling scrubs that always steal my revives.

This works in my favour too. As; (1) I don't like Banshee's either;  (2) I don't have to worry about that teammate using anymore rockets. :)

Sinful, I like you, you're alright.

But in the interest of fairness I should point out last time a played with you (last week) you did take armoured compartments and nuke the bejesus out of everything on glacier hazard. I suspect that was because you were trying to level up your adepts as fast as possible, rather than for epeen reasons, to be honest.

I use missiles for emergency situations, switch targets and prevent my PS3 from freezing. I can nuke 1 or 2 spawns if I'm with 3 bad PUGs and feel that I'm doing a solo or that the game will last forever.

Some rage-missiles may have been fired too.

Armored Compartments is a bit over the top, but if players want to speed up the game... more power to them!

I think you can use them whenever you want.  It's your rockets.  Just take it easy on Wave 11...

Yep, I've brought it out a few time the past few day. Where I got reminded that using rockets takes away from the game again.

And I'm still entitled of ending up in games where I'm not having any fun and just want it to be over with.

EDIT - but don't worry, armoured compartments have been replaced with Responder Loadout. :)

There was a time when a 'Targets' wave would have automatically resulted in me immediately switching to the Cobra.  Not so much anymore, and not at all if I can avoid it - unless there's a really obvious opportunity to cause a switch.  Wave 6 Gold Reapers is a particular waste.

Double Praetorians get nuked on PS3 - that's just the law of common sense.  And sometimes on certain waves Killstreak opportunities are just too tempting to ignore - Double Banshees with a full team of Ravagers or Brutes or Marauders?  Nuke.

Also, if you get to a device before me in a Reaper game, you can honestly be confident in the knowledge that you have nothing to fear from that Banshee closing in on you.

As for Extraction wave, I will never be the first to use one, but if I get re-spawned on, you better believe I'm nuking my way out of it.

It's not about the scoreboard. It's about playing the game.

What would be a more optimal use of rockets in game? Playing the game's end game should be extraction and it should be a smooth clean game. What makes a target wave more smooth than swapping to an easier target?

But part of me feels you're basing this off the most extreme example like Glacier with AC V is going to be an absolute snoozefest if you rocket spawns there. There's a significant difference between eating entire wave budgets with missiles and speeding along objective waves.

Just finished heating up some food, as was thinking; When the heck  did we play Rusty? Was it in a pug game or via someone's invite? Did you change your name?

In a well designed game you woudn't need an instant win button.1 rocket per each team member would be more than enough.

And you need them in this game, because:

1. Bullet sponge, annoying bosses, like Primes or Praetorians.

2. Infinite spawns on objectives, around the corner or even directly in LOS. And a lot of objectives are in the most shitty spots by design, to ****** you off.

3. Cheap sync-kills and even cheaper stagger.

There is one name for missiles, and they're a close cousin to rage gelling: the rage missile.

This tactical nuke usually directly follows a rage gel.

And if I want to nuke all of the shit in this game, fuck your fun time kiddo, I'm gonna nuke everything.

So no one has ever missed firing a rocket at a Crab and missed? They are so huge, how does a rocket go between their legs?
