Excitedly: There needs to be an Elcor crew member in the ship in the next mass effect.

Nostalgically: Man I miss Mass Effect... And Kaidan.

Wishfully: An Xbox One/playstation 4 remastered trilogy in the summer would be amazing, Sadly: since the next Mass Effect is still a ways off...

But seriously, just think about it. It would be so awesome to have an Elcol in the ship. Not a playable character obviously, just an NPC with a lot of dialog. That would be so cool and funny, he could be a diplomacy officer or something like that, it would make sense for an elcor to be in diplomacy.

Elcor can totally be combat companions  And if you think that's impressive, imagine what one can do if he got his hands on someone

I am all for non-humanoid aliens taking a more active, and possibly combat heavy, role in future titles. At the very least we need playable Elcor, and Rachni in the ME:Next MP.

I have to admit that I find it quite tiresome to listen to them. I'd prefer other races.

Eh, it depends on the ship used. Certainly, it wouldn't have worked for the first 3 games because a species such as elcor, who is so different physically from most of the humanoids wouldn't have been able to believably use the human ship and its facilities for extended periods of time. I don't think there is any real way they could make that one work in a believable manner. Hell, it was probably a challenge for Tali since the Med-Bay would have been the only analogue to a clean room. How would an elcor use the restroom? Or be able to navigate the ship quickly and efficiently in times that it is needed, such as combat? They aren't accustomed to the same sort of gravity as the humanoid species, either. Then there is the extra work that you would need with making lots of animations for the elcor, unless you just made him sit behind a requisitions kiosk or whatever.

I'd be all for them not being considered pretty much a joke race for hilarious recitations of Shakespeare in other ways, though. Dekunna as a hub world, or a trip to an elcor colony or ship, for example. Also could provide some interesting gameplay mechanics due to the high gravity environment that would likely be encountered.

No, really. Elcor are great as comic relief. That is their role. For anything else their shtick would be frustrating and tiresome.

As interesting as the Eclor are as a culture, I don't think I could get over their incessant monotone. I could appreciate an Elcor being a weapon vendor or cook on our ship, occasionally offering conversation or input, but anything more is a bit too much for me.

Gameplay-wise, conforming level design and cinematic sequences around an Elcor's frame would be difficult at best, so I can't imagine an Elcor being and active party member.

Honestly, I don't know if I could stand to sit through multiple cut scenes with an Elcor squadmate or big NPC.

Making them a squad member would be quite a dedication of resources since the body type and movement is so different from the humanoid characters. I don't see it happening.

Edit: And they're supposed to be slow moving. They'd either have to retcon that fact or have them be lagging behind the PC.

Yeah I'm all for elcor having a more serious role, but making one a squadmate will be too costly in terms of resources. Not to mention an eclor squadmate would be situational at best due to their anatomy.

Well, this would certainly clear the way for more unique squqd mates, also in terms of gameplay.

In ME1/2/3 all the squad mates basically do the same stuff. They do have different skill sets but in principle, they all use cover, shoot and use powers.

If we were to get an elcor, I'd want an armored elcor, that we can deploy as movable cover. In that case, I also want a throw-able volus squad mate (a god-like biotic of course), a gun, that burst fires rachni workers, a Collector sniper, that can fly (only available if you chose synthesis in ME3) and a hannar, who carries my guns for me and increases my loadout capacity to 10 weapons (he also auto-reloads them for ya, he is kinda like your combat-caddy).

Motivatingly: If we gonna do this, we might as well go all the way.

I can't imagine standing to listen to an elcor for an extended period of time, same as the volus, who are almost as bad as Stevie from Malcolm in the Middle, who I used to wish would just suffocate already.

Elcor need their version of HK-47.

Think about it, before KOTOR most of the fan base considered the idea of a droid companion to be boring and/or useless especially in combat. After seeing HK-47 in action though, many people began to warm up to the idea of droids as companions, as well as the idea of a combat capable war machine smarter than a mentally challenged gerbil (thanks prequels and the Trade Federation <_<).

When ever an Elcor starts talking in Mass Effect i groan and start beating down on my spacebar like it owes me money.

I can't stand listening to them talk, they drive me crazy.

I'd prefer the greatest hanar spectre in the galaxy: Blasto. He has the moves and the lines. The comic relief of an elcor would wear off after a while. They are essentially imitating HK-47/51, yet they aren't as endearing nor as compelling in the long run. Plus, giant guns mounted on their backs looks a little silly in my opinion.

It looks like they were trying too hard to convey the "walking tank" image given in ME3.

Having an Elcor crew member would be like having First Enchanter Irving from DAO as a party member.

By the time your first conversation with them is over, not only will you have grandchildren, but your grandchildren will have had grandchildren too.

It'd be interesting to have an elcor on the ship - maybe as requisitions or something? But I'm not sure I'd want one as a member of the ground team, nor that important. Their way of speaking is too ponderous.

The Elcor can drop the descriptor before every statement if they choose to, it's not like they have to say "With Great Excitement" every time they want to talk.

I think the issue is not so much the descriptor...it is that their manner of speech is so slow and monotone. While that works just fine in small doses with random NPCs, it might become annoying with a companion character. The Elcor are one of my favorite species in the Mass Effect universe but even I'm not sure if they'd be a good fit as a companion character. It would be awesome though to see the walking tanks in action.

I think the Vorcha would make poor squadmates for similar reasons as the Elcor. Their manner of speech only works in small doses.

Having a more diverse squad would be awesome. Imagine a playthrough with a Vorcha, Volus, Hanar, and Elcor team. The conversations and party banter would be hilarious. It could be like the Space Balls of Mass Effect.
