The easiest / most viable Platinum PUG builds?

I've started PUGging Plat. Naturally, my best kits are Reegar AIU and Harrier TGI. But they get boring very fast. Also, the AIU's lack of  long-range damage capability is annoying so I'm pretty much limited to TGI. And Harrier's requirement to be hugging the ammo box 90% of the time is a pain. I tried PPR TGI, but it doesn't work. But back on topic: what would you call the most viable Platinum kits that don't require any special skills?

You could argue that this is a silly question because no one knows what kits I play best better than me. But the thing is that there are LOTS of characters I enjoy on Gold, but am simply afraid to try on Plat because they're either very squishy or may not be powerful enough for Plat (or both). Examples of the former category are Asari Justicar, Huntress, Fury, Valkyrie. The latter - ADAS Quarksman "The Geth Buster" (only good vs. Geth while Platinum features all the factions at once), HSol (not enough ammo for Harrier, probably not enough damage with any other weapon), Flamer Vorcha, N7 Shadow, shotgun Cabal Vanguard.

So, what characters are you most comfortable with on Platinum?

P. S. I'd prefer builds that don't feature Claymore (don't like it), Venom and Talon (don't have those).

Well, Geth Trooper with Acolyte and an anti Guardian sidearm (Hurricane or CSMG are popular) are well known for this, but I know you don't like this set up too much.

Human Sentinel 4/6/6/6/4 or 5/6/6/6/3 (or ... 3/6 if you must) with Collector SMG and Acolyte.

Vorcha Sentinel with CSMG or Reegar (or both I guess).

Turian Sentinel with any gun you want because Turians. I use the Lancer.

Asari Justicar with CSMG and Acolyte. No Pull.

N7 Paladin with Hurricane or CSMG.

Those are what I farmed Platinum with when I started doing that.

Geth Trooper with Acolyte

I'm not even sure how it's supposed to work. Strip shields, flame everything? Same as Vorcha flamer strategy? I can't get it working on Gold.

Yes, that is exactly how it works, one of the highest damage aoe attacks in the game, works great when you get to fresh spawns.

Especially effective against Reapers

Here is a build that I find very enjoyable and very easy to use. More importantly, it is a build that you may find very easy to use.

Geth Engineer - Healer of WARRRRRRR

http://kalence.drupa...!23X53364!5F8E5

If you are the highest scorer, fight aggressively by shooting things to set up fire explosions and detonate them with overload. Your turret can detonate fire explosions too. Throw the turret at your feet for it to restore your shields. Then throw it at your feet again and it will restore your shields once again.

If you are not the highest scorer, follow the damage dealer around and use the turret to heal them. A lot. Play the same, otherwise, covering them as they move about.

Got a revive to do? Throw a turret at a teammate who is downed. Run over and save them. If you get hit by enemies, that turret will help you out. The turret will also save you from bad DoT or shield-stopping effects like abombs detonations, swarmers, banshee warps, banshee novas and scion blasts.

In other words, a tanky character who profits from good strategy. You get newb-friendly things like wallhax and free healing, but utilizing them effectively is the rub.

Harrier TGI is the basic breaking into higher difficulty character..A few BSNr's knew me when I was doing that..My Harrier 2 ..miss that thing.  I DO NOT UNDERSTAND Reegar AIU    I have never tried it  but I can say/ have seen alot of dying from those puggers   I Hate the range limit..Sooo many better choices  Wraith/ Raider are devastating on her..I like the Disciple/Evicerator on her as well  ..Paladin with almost any gun will work    As well as either Salarian Bros    Way 2 Many Novaguards  they are just flatout annoying

My personal Favorite: http://kalence.drupa...!23N52363!A0.BG

Devastating against Cerberus/Reapers/Geth   I left 6 point un-used ..those are personal preference...6 points into Slash or maybe a small weapon boost...

Anything not Sinful Force approved.

Eh, if I had to pick a sturdy high damage output kit that works well everywhere I'd go with the SI and the biggest cannon you currently have.

GI/Piranha is pretty ridiculously good.  I don't play Platinum often, but I used this in the last Platinum game I played.  One of the players was using a Harrier-TGI and another was using the AIU-Reegar, and I pretty badly outscored them both with my Piranha GI.

EDIT:  I have used this Asari Justicar build several times in Platinum, and it does really, really well against everything but Geth.  It's especially potent against Reapers, and it's also really good against Collectors and Phantoms (meaning it's pretty good against Cerberus).  Against Geth, you might want to use the Talon instead, or go with the Acolyte/Hurricane combo.

My easiest kits in somewhat order: TGI with lancer (practically never need to go to ammo box), asari huntress with hurricane, asari valkyrie with hurricane, (puggernaut with whatever I feel like at the time), drell adept with harrier (damn drells with lancers), drell infiltrator with BW, n7 fury (when hosting) with hurricane, and then I guess AIU with some shotgun. Acolyte as a sidearm with practically all kits except puggernaut and if using reegar. I have no idea how to play engineers, soldiers or vanguards in plat :)

Cyclonics IV with most kits, drells quite often with shield power cells and puggernaut and annihilators possibly with adrenaline mod.

I suck sometimes in plat and with those kits I can hold my own usually. Btw, I never skip overload on TGI, it's good for phantoms and staggering in case of emergency.

Enemies nearby: Singularity -> weapon -> shockwave -> rinse + repeat
Single Boss nearby: Singularity -> weapon -> shockwave -> weapon -> warp -> rinse + repeat
Distant enemies: Singularity -> weapon -> warp -> weapon -> warp -> rinse + repeat

When you get the timing right, you'll get two biotic explosions from singularity.  It primes, something detonates it.  Prime again with something else, then singularity's detonation (rank 6) will detonate the second primer.  I usually go 4/4 instead of 0/6 for passives, but if you're looking for survivability, go 0/6.

Scorpion for on-host phantoms.  PPR everything else.

Slightly less powerful, but more survivable than GI.  Think hybrid between GI and TGI.  Treat energy drain like stim packs, but use more frequently.  Don't forget to debuff and set off explosions with proxy mine!  Also effective with Black Widow or Javelin (Cloak to 6, fitness to 3).

Enjoy.

You've got to have one other friend to pug with but AJA and Juggernaut go together like PB and Jelly. Juggy can tank most bosses consistently it's the gangs of little crap that eventually do him in unless you stand out in the open like a dillhole and get shot by Ravagers and Scions. Get a Juggernaut friend find a nice defensible location (IE the LZ on Giant). Throw an offensive bubble on top of the Jug and Reave anything that comes in. Infinite ammo weapon is nice for the Jug, acolyte is sufficient for the AJA. Objectives might be your only obstacle depending on what they are.

Sooo many better choices  Wraith/ Raider are devastating on her.

Reegar is so much superior to any other shotgun on AIU (and pretty much any other character), it's not even worth wasting time to discuss.

If I see a non-Reegar AIU in my lobby (Gold or higher) I will probably kick her.

An AIU isn't sub-par even with a non-shotty. You could put an SR, AR, pistol or even something like the hurrdurricane on it and the kit still deals good damage. Then there's snap freeze and immunity to death.

After you excluded some of the most powerful kits and weapons and can't make the easiest Plat-kit work for you - I'm afraid BSN can't do much for you.

Mr. Bateman may be right...

I shall continue to use whatever kit I feel like playing, on any difficulty, thank you very much.

And FYI, my Raider AIU does just fine on Plat.

Now to try to answer your question, what is your very best kit on Gold? The one you play best, are most comfortable with, feel you could clutch a wave if necessary? That's the one you need to use to play a dozen games or so to get comfortable with Platinum.

So does any infiltrator. But taking a weapon that your cloak doesn't add bonus damage to makes it sub-par. Or equipping low-DPS weapon when there is a high DPS alternative.

my Raider AIU does just fine on Plat.

There's a difference between "fine" and "excellent".

Of course you will.

I haven't excluded AIU and TGI, I just said they get old very fast. I've already played more games with these two than I should have. As for the weapons I don't have - I'm at the mercy of the RNG shop.
