I realize that, but different kits / builds require different level of skill - which is exactly what this thread is about. I've seen a player wreck everything super fast with Batarian Soldier which is at the top of my personal list of bad / weak / useless characters. Also at the top are Krogan Sentinel / Soldier, which have come up numerous time in the "favorite characters" thread so there's probably something about them that I don't understand. But I understand Typhoon GT or PPR overload-less TSent.

I have 3 easy-mode Plat favourites:

 

TGI Black Widow

 

Heavy barrel, AP IV ammo

More survivable than the GI sniper.

 

TGI Typhoon

 

If you don't like hugging ammo crates this is a really good alternative

 

Juggy Spitfire

 

Spec out of HS (waste of space) and go full fitness (no melee - too boring)

Throw turret into a group and just start spraying - great for taking out bosses quickly.

Use Incendiary ammo for SP explosions.

TGI is not a proper sniper, though. How do you build him for sniping? 4/6/4/6/6? Or 4/6/6/6/4?

I think Salarian is the most survivable of the real snipers (those whose TC is bonused for sniper rifle damage).

Personal = subjective. Also, you apparently didn't read 2 lines above where I said that I realize he's not REALLY weak because I've seen people use him with great success. But yeah, I don't get him, as well as the other soldier characters that aren't really soldiers (Krogan, Vorcha, Turian Havoc).

Krogan Shaman + Crusader with warp ammo (or any functional good shotgun you have, Graal is good too).

 

He can tank, he got moves, he got headbutt and a mighty shotgun. Easy build, you can change it as you like for more damage, or more tankiness, or whatever:

Mraaw! ( Headbutt the link with your mouse for the build)

 

It's basically a crowd control build: shotgun/ shockwave/ melee to stun and biotic combo/ melee/ shotgun to achieve destruction and kills.

I prefer the Crusader (instead of Reegar or Claymore) with him for 2 reasons: ammo efficiency and long range snipe.

But mileage may vary with the Crusader.

Have no fear of going all close and personal with mobs if necessary and headbutt your mates between waves as a proper gentilkrogan.

Reading comprehension lessons aren't necessary. It's the lack of L2P that shocks me. Tossing inferno grenades at everything while spamming BB and shooting inbetween doesn't take a genius to figure out.

If I were to attempt at BatSol right now with no further research, I'd do something like this build. It's configured under assumption that BB detonates fire explosions. But that does not seem to be the case: the Power Combos Wiki article doesn't list BB at all. So how is BatSol supposed to work?

 

And even if BB does detonate, where am I supposed to get enough grenades to use them as the main damage source? Once I'm out of grenades, I will be miserable because BatSol's weapon damage is mediocre at best.

You've good weapons. You've got grenade capacity V. You've got 255 thermal clip packs.

Why does it need to detonate FEs. You've got crowd control for days against mooks and insane damage vs everything with inferno nades. What more do you need?

If you really want to detonate FEs then look at the KroSol instead. Just don't spec out of Carnage.

 

But as b00g13 said, Infernades do masses of damage. Toss them into groups or at the feet of bosses and walk away. Stagger anything that bothers you up close with BBs and then punch their head off. Shoot everything else with your Raider.

Well, aside the mentioned ones.

 

Asari Huntress power build, Wraith or talon (i like shotty) geth scanner and power amp (a bit of glass cannon, but dominate reaper and collector.)

GI, any weapon really but I like hurricane or talon

 

more sturdy ones:

Batarian sentinel with typhoon and pirana, who cares about cooldown

Krogan Adept with Wraith (or talon), geth scanner and CM V, surprisely sturdy and effective, 46664 I think I have it. warp and shockwave all the things...

Any volus, but the sentinel with the spitfire is fun.

Also engineer with the beam lazer rifle and cryo ammo.

My TGI is 46466 (I always go full fitness - deal with it  )

 

Shield evo on Overload and headshot bonus of course. I only go 4 points into stims     and barely use them and I only spec to duration on cloak 

 

This is "my" build, not expecting anyone else to like it, but I've enjoyed playing this build for a long time and it works well for me.

 

I'm not saying it's optimum but I clutch Gold with it all the time, and I've played many plat games. NO I don't solo - If I wanted to play on my own I would play the SP 

 

 

Works well with the Incisor on Gold, but I suck with the Jav, so it's the BW in Plat.

Kroldier is faster, 15:00 vs. 16:12 for BatSol And I assume both use incendiary glitch, so not really an indicator of how good the kit is, just that it has that one special ability to proc the glitch.

Why don't you just try listening to people?  Batarian Soldier is Gold EZ-mode.  You don't need fire explosions, because Inferno Grenades do such ridiculous armor damage, and Ballistic Blades will double-stagger an entire group of mooks.  In fact, all a fire explosion is going to do is make a Banshee or Praetorian put up their blocking bubble and cut off your grenade DOT.

 

I did my first Gold Solo with the BatSol.  I tried and failed a few times with the TGI-Harrier and decided to give the BatSol a try.  Did it on the first try, in barely over 30 minutes, and I had over half my consumables still left.

Just watch the destruction and try it for yourself, and if you still think it's awful, i don't think any of us can help you...

Guys, guys, LS doesn't need to listen when you keep feeding into his utter bullshit. He's made more ridiculous claims in this thread than I've read in the supermarket

They do some damage, but it's nothing to write home about which is why I'm disappointed that the Batarian can't detonate FEs. I haven't tried utilizing the incendiary glitch, though. Gonna give them another try.

 

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying success with Geth Trooper on Platinum, as per one of the recommendations in this thread.

So what? BatSol is the crowd control king. Give him a gun that staggers, i.e. the Venom, Falcon, GPS, and watch him completely decimate everything.

Yep. The video shows Harrier to work very well, too. The stagger from blades alone seems to be quite enough.

If you take a stagger weapon, the blades are as a short-range solution, and the weapon is the long-range option. It's very helpful for solos, for example, when you have to lock down multiple phantoms, possessed captains and other OP enemies.
