Why Does My Health Regen SOOO Fast?

So I beat the game, I have masterwork tier 3 weapons and armor and for whatever reason, my health regenerates so freaking quickly. Almost to the point where I can't even die. I hate this because it takes the challenge right out of the game.. I checked my stats and it tells me that my heal on kill is only 10%.

WHY WHY WHY is my health regenerating super quickly? I do not like it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have heal over time gear as well?

Some crafted gear can heal 25% of damage taken over 10 seconds. Add in a HoK ring or weapon, and that health regen can be quite insane.

Hmm, honestly can't remember. I tried taking all my gear off just to see if it was that sort of thing and it still does it. Any other suggestions? Could it be something in the war room with inquisition perks?

I wasn't aware that there was any health regenerating items in the game. I made a suggestion post last week requesting some items adding to the game that slowly allowed health to regenerate out of combat. The idea was mostly shouted down, because most people, for some bizarre reason beyond my ability to fathom, seem to prefer health not regenerating.

And now I see this post.

So, are you saying that there's gear in this game that causes your health to regenerate when you take damage, so that the game behaves more like it did in DA:O/DA:2?

If so, how do I get these items? Where are they?

There are masterworks you craft into your gear that regenerate health over time.  Some cloth items like cotton also generate heal on kill.  There are others but I can't remember which ones do so.  You are better off crafting it into your armor, arms and legs than waiting for gear you find in a loot drop.  If you are still in Haven, you cannot craft masterworks yet, but you will be able to once you get to Skyhold.  Look for fade touched items when collecting cloth leather and metals.  They will drop randomly.  Of course the more you farm for materials, the more you will find they drop. :)

Wow, OK thank you.

This is also quite bizarre. I had no idea these items and upgrades existed, and I made a suggestion on the suggestion forums for something exactly like this.

The idea was shouted down by a whole bunch of people, because they felt it would destroy the spirit and intention of the game, and because they felt that Bioware would be forced to redesign all the combat in the game to take advantage of this.

But now I learn that these items exist anyway... clearly the ones shouting down my suggestion have no knowledge of their existence :D

I have to say I'm relieved in the extreme. I hate not having my health regen over time. I need to get to Skyhold pronto and get these items crafted.

Some additional notes on the mechanics.  Heal on Kill % is the % of your total health restored on killing anything.  It adds up quickly.  Even a little Heal on Kill on a rogue who likes to hook and tackle fennecs to move will be full health most of the time.

I may need to go through some more extensive work on figuring this out but i even took my armor and weapon off. It still does it. I'm beginning to think something is glitched. Maybe some other armor like rings and things I'm not aware of or something.

This would have been a nice problem to have on my nightmare run, pre Skyhold.

Do you have a ring of health regen on?  That'll do it too.

Dumb question, but are you a necromancer? One of their passives, Death Siphon, grants 10% heal on kill. It's one of several reasons they should be set to never drink health potions (the other main reason is Simulacrum).

Necros get a lot of bonuses on kill. The tradeoff is that they're quite weak against single bosses.

Nah I'm a rogue: archer. It never started doing this until right before the final boss. I noticed that the final boss was super easy and I was wondering why I didn't die once. I then continued through the game and realized my health just gets pushed right back up to max after every little bit of damage being taken
