I am early on in an insanity run.
I want Reave early.
I see that if you unlock a bonus in another career it will unlock it in any and all careers.
So I begin a separate career to rush through on casual to unlock reave.
The "rush" career starts on insanity because that is how it is set in options from my original career. If I swap to casual and swap it back to insanity while within the rush career, will it void my insanity trophy after I return to my original career?
My reasoning for asking is because challenges like Recruit, Soldier, and Veteran continue counting cross-careers. It seems logical the same would apply with this difficulty swap. Will it void insanity chivo / trophy?
Does changeing the Difficulty in an other career void insanity trophy / achievement in your original career?

Maybe a faster way would be this: if you have Samara's loyalty by the end of ME2, you could re-select your bonus power in the Research section.
Then just import this character into ME3, change difficulty to Insanity during the Earth prologue and that should be it. If you're not far into ME3 that could be faster than waiting to get Reave in ME3 (I think you can only get this from Kaidan. And it takes rather long to get him on your squad permanently).
Anyway, I don't believe this would affect the trophy as each of your careers have the Difficulty setting saved within that career, AFAIK.
I even read about exploiting the system where you start each mission on Insanity, change to an easy level and switch back to Insanity right before a mission ends.
Btw to be sure if it works you can check your Insanity progress in the Achievements section in the main menu. I think there are 27 missions in total (check it for the achievement "Either finish all Multiplayer maps on Gold or all Single Player missions on Insanity").

Starting a new career on an easier difficulty should not affect your current career on Insanity. So even if you complete your Casual career to unlock bonus powers, it should not affect your current Insanity career.
I have not done this myself so I cannot confirm whether it is actually true or not, but it should be the case.
As for this comment:

Bonus powers unlocked in ME2 do not carry over to ME3. (I have seen at least one other person mention your method, but that never happened on my first playthrough.) You have to unlock bonus powers in ME3 one at a time. You unlock bonus powers from squadmates by talking to them. Bonus powers unlocked in one playthrough are carried over to all playthroughs.
You can get Kaidan/Ashley back fairly quickly:
1. Vancouver, Mars. (Lose Kaidan).
2. Menae
3. Diplomats, Su'Kesh.
4. Turian Platoon/Missing Krogan Scouts. This will unlock The Shroud (a.k.a Priority: Tuchanka, or Cure The Genophage).
5. The Shroud.
6. Citadel Coup. Can regain Kaidan here.
Cannot remember if Reave unlocks first, or if Barrier unlocks first.
Recommend that you talk to Kaidan in the hospital after each of the first few missions; I find that it makes it easier to recruit him later on the Citadel.

Ok, checked it at home. I could access the bonus power because obviously I already had a ME3 playthrough, stupid me ![]()

@Zelven:
According to the wiki Reave unlocks when you talk to Kaidan directly after Priority: Citadel II on the Normandy, but don't leave the Normandy before that or else the dialogue will be missed.
There are a few more points to consider (if you don't know).
If you actually can get Kaidan back depends on a few things. It's good if:
- you saved the Council in ME1
- you choose Paragon answers for Kaidan during Priority: Mars
- you visit him in the hospital twice as soon as he's awake (just check after every mission, even the side missions count I believe; but you'll get an e-mail from him anyway)
- Kirrahe or Thane are alive
- use the Paragon interrupt when you meet him during Priority: Citadel II
And last: if you're female and romanced him in ME1 but cheated on him during ME2, confess to him

To get the bonus power reave, talk with Kaidan after he gets back on the Normandy. If the player doesn't talk to him after the coup and does a mission, you won't get any other opportunity to get reave.
His barrier power unlocks after he gets back on the Normandy after the coup
