mage + mage = likely a mage
families  don't like to have mage sibling  ( except Tivinter )  so   it's more  a tabou than any thing else

I so, so hope that my Queen Cousland/Alistair match doesn't have a mage child (stares at Fiona).

Mages aren't allowed to keep their children in the circle. They are removed. That is why you don't hear much about mages having children. They are not allowed family.

Dorian's mother, Aquinea Thalrassian, was specifically chosen for Halward because magic runs strong in her family. I HIGHLY doubt that she was a Soporati. Especially since they only have children to create an even more powerful Magister and not to have a happy family.

The whole "Grey Warden parenthood? Only with magic" doesn't seem to fly when one takes into account Morrigan can have a not-Old God baby if she just sleeps with the Warden and Fiona had Alistair(although it is, I suppose, possible the Taint had already left her body when she got pregnant).

DG suggests its super unlikely for an untainted person and a GW to have kids, but most of his answers come in the context of an Alistair romance were both are GW'd.
