The Ring of the Ferryman actually is the badge of office for Archons.
Interesting that was an item in DA2

To spare or not to spare (the Architect) that is the ?

Awesome.
HOLY HELL, MY PREVIEW CHANGED AND HAS MORE.
THE OTHER 5 MAGISTERS TITLES WERE:
-Watchman of the Night
-Forgewright of the Fire
-Appraiser of Slavery
-Augur of Mystery
-the Madman of Chaos
This only makes my strange Architect/Corypheus ship seem even more plausible.
This is so freaking cool!
Where are they?
I wonder if each Magister is cursed to awake and Taint the Old God they worshipped.
I wondered that same theory once, though I think I abandoned it because something didn't sit right with me about it.
The madmen of chaos?
Don't tell me there could be a darkspawn magister named the Madmen of Chaos in the Deep Roads somewhere...
"The High Priest, Conductor of the Choir of Silence ruled
Above all the Dreamers of the Imperium. Wisest
And most powerful of the Magisters Sidereal
In his dreams, he alone heard the voice of Silence
The Magisters Sidereal were the group of 7 high priests of the Old Gods within the Magisterium"
So Cory was the wisest dreamer and most powerful of the 7 first darkspawn.
And the name of the group was the "Magisters Sidereal"
This lore stuff is pretty dope
Also, the book seems to hint at Sten and Rasaan appearing in the future.
"[Rasaan] was most recently seen at the fortress of Akhaaz in Seheron. There are rumours that the new Arishok is amassing a force of dreadnoughts - perhaps for an eventual invasion. If this is true, it seems likely that the humans of Thedas will soon see a great deal more of Rasaan then they care too."
Do we know the hierarchy of the group, top to bottom?
Just two more Blights to go then?
i take it that u cannot kill the Architect since like all 'old gods', he can come back to life unless killed by a grey warden or the vessel is broken?
but then again, u a grey warden?

So the Architect was the magister who served Urthemiel, the Old God of Beauty. And is also the Old God that the Architect tries to save from the Blight by giving him the Warden resistance. Seems Architect still had some loyalty to his master, trying to save him from the curse he was given.

Yes. And we noticed with Corypheus that Wardens can get possessed by the magister souls...
The Architect wanted to end the Calling... and now, the Hero of Ferelden is on a quest to end it as well. Coincidence? Maybe the Hero of Ferelden is not quite himself right now?
Do we know the hierarchy of the group, top to bottom?
Nope not really. But the ritual was organized slightly differently than I imagined. The magisters were all distrustful of each other and they are explicitly refered to as "rivals." Originally Corypheus didn't want to involve anyone else. Dumat spoke to him and told him to "open the gates" and receive "power and glory beyond all reckoning." But Cory couldn't do it alone so he went in secret to the Architect so he could come up with a "design" to open the gates. It's unclear what exactly he was asked to build. The term "tower" is used by the acolyte who runs away mid-ritual to warn the Archon:
"If mortals were meant to stand among the Gods
Would they not open the gates for us?
Rather than demand we build a tower,
Blood, bone, and metal to the heavens?"
(Of course "tower" might be metaphorical)
Initially, the Architect refused because he only served "The Grand Plans" and he didn't dare raise a "servant of silence" above him or his god. But afterwards in secret, he consulted Urthemiel who told him:
"Open the gates.
And when you stand before me,
I shall give you designs
That shall rival the greatness of heaven.
I will make you First among the new gods,
And you will build a paradise on earth."
Then the Architect promised Cory "all the skills of Beauty's designs"
The Architect's designs demanded more so Cory had to get help from the other 5 priests. Each of them responded like the Architect. They jealously refused then consulted their god. Each priest got the same message: open the gates and become a god. Then they joined up with Cory and the Architect. No info on their roles but I assume that the Appraiser provided the slaves for the blood ritual.
So it seems that the Magisters Sidereal were an intensely jealous and distrustful group. looks like the only thing that kept them together was the promise that their respective god would make them the most powerful.
So the Architect was the priest of Urthemiel?
Me right now

i take it that u cannot kill the Architect since like all 'old gods', he can come back to life?

Remember that darkspawn can return through any blighted creature though. I'm assuming Corypheus was able to return from the corpse of a warden because of the blighted lyrium embedded in him, and seeing as how the concoction is created through the mixture of darkspawn blood, a drop of an archdemon's blood, and lyrium, it could be possible for him to gain access to the warden's lyrium and their withheld blight. I'm assuming that if you kill The Architect and Utha, his presence goes to the last living blighted creature left, Velanna's sister, Seranni.
"The High Priest, Conductor of the Choir of Silence ruled

And most powerful of the Magisters Sidereal
In his dreams, he alone heard the voice of Silence
The Magisters Sidereal were the group of 7 high priests of the Old Gods within the Magisterium"
Conductor of the Choir; could suggest creator of the SONG Warden's/Darkspawn hear.
But let's rewrite this a bit. "The High Priest (who happens to be Conductor of the Choir) ruled above ALL Dreamers. Wisest and most powerful of the Magisters Siderael (Sidereal could be "real side" meaning the place Dreamer's meet/go.) in his dreams. He alone heard the Voice."
Maybe the Conductor of the Choir only had power in the Dreamer's domain. He wanted power elsewhere. He convinces them he hears a voice and the power struggle bands together an unlikely cooperation.
Or we could have 7 priests who built an empire in their Dream. (The Fade maybe.) Each learned of this place by a different Old God. (Maybe a trapped Old Elven God.) Corypheus says he heard Silence in the Golden City for it was blackened and the seat empty. "He alone heard the Voice." These canticles and their half-truths may be long-winded anagrams or some sort of wordy puzzle if written out a different way. I'm sure there is a forumite who might smite me for even suggesting its new news! Let's say the old Elven God's can eavesdrop on the prayers or wishes of mages. They find like-minded players and make suggestions to them about this 'dreamer-nation', a kingdom they can have for their very own. Each challenges their servant from a perspective they hold dear like Desire Demons with more understanding of the real world. Further in the canticle it talks of dissent in an Architect and a Beauty who controls them all. The players are there we just have to find the rest of the wordy puzzle if we already have it; unless the pieces haven't been written yet.

I prefer my theory I posted a few posts back. Architect's essence (if killed) entered the Hero fo Ferelden and Architect eventually took over - which is the reason HoF is searching for a cure for the Calling, just like the Architect did.

Augur of Mystery huh.....
In the Jaws of Hakkon dlc there is this avaar dude called an augur (the guys communing with the spirits), and a codex entry refering to the old god of mystery (Ryzekale or something like that). Wonder if that is just coincidence.
Am I the only one who thinks this would be a great setup for the Warden DLC?
One day, you receive a letter in Skyhold. It has been made mostly illegible by what Vivienne/Dagna claims to be magical fire
Or, if Morrigan was romanced, she tells you that before the Warden left, she broke a little piece of the mirror for him which would allow him to contact her but the place where he is attempting to do so from blocks magic.
You get a message such as this
"...in Deep Roads, near Kal-Sharok...over a thousand years old, like Corypheus and the Architect...augur, do not trust the augur....it wants...Mystery...can't kill it, don't know how...please help me..."
"I thought you said what it wanted was a mystery?
What? No! I said, it wants to awaken the old god of Mystery, Razikale.
Oooooh, that makes sense."
You go to the Deep Roads, learn the secrets of Kal-Sharok and, eventually, reach a gargantuan cavern, larger than many palaces. There are signs of excavation on the ground and walking it wields the same feelings as walking in the Grand Cathedral of Val Royeaux.
There are dozens of darkspawn corpses all around and, in the center a human/elf/dwarven man/woman wearing Grey Warden armour/robes is locked in a combat to the death with a darkspawn eerily human whose body appears to be an amalgamation of flesh and noble robes.
And if you don't kill him the HoF still looking for the Calling cure.
Crap. Theory debunked, partially. He could still be working for/with the Architect though.
I am just trying to think of a way for them to bring the Architect back without it being complete retcon.
