It's actually very common that people just can't pronounce foreign names correctly. Sometimes they can't produce the sounds used in the other language. Other times they can't even hear the difference between the correct pronunciation and the one they're using, even though the difference is obvious to someone speaking the other language natively.

As a Finnish person living in the UK, I've had to accept that almost nobody can pronounce my name, even after repeated corrections. The Finnish diphthong 'ou' is notoriously difficult for most non-Finns, and we also have similar 'R' as in Spanish.
