This is a difficult message to write. My hands are shaking, blood is boiling within my veins.I feel restless, twitchy, ill at ease. My eyes dart around like startled nugs, seeking targets, searching for something.. anything upon which to vent the seething and overflowing well of hatred and poisonous resentment that still churns unabating within me.

The designer must be familiar with the old text adventure style:
"You are in a room with exits to north, east and west ...", which leads to another "You are in a room with exits to north, east and west ..." although sometimes they vary the three compass points, just to be really annoying.
At least in DAI you can collect Deep Mushrooms as you go around. ![]()

And I would beg you traveler , do not go there. Ignore the enticing signs, the promises of riches. You will lose yourself, and become lost forever, endlessly trying to scrabble your way up endless expanses of uncaring stone, ever-trying to reach glinting shards that cannot be touched.
Been there, done that... five times. I like it.

Lol tell me about it, I just did that temple a few hours ago. I was pretty overleveled at 23 on Hard, so the fights were really easy. I already knew what to expect because I'd read it in the forums, but seriously, you'd expect more after all that work finding the shards... I wonder what that place is about though? It's listed in the Keep, so it must have some importance, right? I even had Solas with me but he said nothing... Oh well, at least I got a nice dagger for Cole and he's super strong now.
He did say something. He wonders if there're more temples like that.

You don't need to even go to the Forbidden Oasis to complete the main story. There is nothing there except for the Temple and the rewards from it aren't worth the effort to get them IMO. I no longer go there.

yes, I know. But I count that as nothing. I was hoping he would know about the temple, and give me more info on it. All he did was a one-liner. :/ boring. He did say something. He wonders if there're more temples like that.

I just try to exploit fast travel heal as much as possible as I leap off cliff edges to get to shards relatively quickly. But I agree, this map is pretty irritating.

Oh, I agree it is fun, in a kind of "When I've finished banging my head off a brick wall the pain will stop." way. But I will maintain till my dying breath (lost in or near the spiral maze having taken a final wrong turning) that it was designed by a sadist's sadist in order to boost the sales of tranquilizers/whisky/brick walls. All it needs now is a hungry grue. ![]()

Though the Golden City has fallen, I have seen your face and your light, I am your wrath and your right hand. In the Maker's name, let all doubt be burned away within the light of your grace. I shall fear no enemy, I shall bear no words that seek to cast darkness upon you. Who is like unto you? Maker, who chose Andraste to be his everlasting Bride, and unto who the fates of all stands of this world are bound.....

Actually, the shards in the Oasis are all reasonably easy to get. Your issue is that you're likely trying to get the shards before fully exploring the area (hint: there are supremely easy ways to get up to the tops of the cliffs and upper walkways). I don't remember any difficult jumps at all, though you can get to spots where you need to hop down to the ground (and will take minor fall damage unless you have guard or cast Barrier first).
The only tricky treasure is that barrel. If you're having problems with other things, I'd suggest continuing to explore the area normally. You should find the intended routes soon enough.
The Forbidden Oasis is one of the better level designs in the game. It accomplishes a lot in a relatively small area and really rewards exploration.

I like the shards, they are fun puzzles.
Particularly Forbidden Oasis, Exalted Plains and especially the Frostback Basin.
Getting the shards in Lady Shayna's Valley before killing the dragon is my favourite.

I did the Forbidden Oasis once, and so did my husband. We were both masses of frustration after we managed to complete it... and we're relatively calm, easy going people, too.
So... if I see an oculara, I shut my eyes and walk by it. Ignoring it and not doing anything with the shards has saved me A LOT of frustration. If I don't touch it, the zone doesn't open up. No quests, no completionist tendencies rear their ugly heads!
I like how you pulled the inscription from Balin's tomb from Moria into there, too ![]()

Getting at least some of the shards and the respective resistances helps a lot, especially on harder difficulties.

I think I've done that place about 4-5 times. It's not bad now that I know where all the paths lead.
I always forget it exists though, so when I get there I am so over-leveled I'm like a rabid grizzly going through a daycare center.
