My method of gathering the shards at the Forbidden Oasis is pretty simple. I don't even try. I just wander around in a leisurely fashion, killing Venatori/demons/unfortunate tuskets, and scoop up loot and crafting materials. Every once in a while, I stumble across a shard and I pick it up. Eventually, I find them all, but only if I stop stressing about trying to navigate and just let it happen.

That Maker-forsake miner, though... Why is it that she will always greet my first arrival to the Oasis and give me her quest, only to disappear forever when I find her ring?

The first time I came upon her it was in that pitch black sprial mine with the veilfire and she was all like why are you following me?  Lady, it's pitch black in here and you are not using a torch, I can't even see you, let alone follow you.  She scared the bejesus out of me!

Generally If I can't find her near the oasis camp, I leave and she will respawn somewhere around it.

Because she can (and does) path out of bounds eventually. The longer she's patrolling, the more likely she'll end up somewhere outside the level.

She's always spawned in fresh when you enter the area, so you just need to leave and return to find her again (her spawn point is near the second camp).

Now, you are making the woman sound like some kind of demon...

I never give her "my precioussss" anyway.

@AshenSugar: You don´t happen to be a Malkavian, do you? :D

Absolutely not, and no amount of broken Eluvians will convince me otherwise.

it's been rather cold up here lately.. so Forbidden Oasis is so comforting.. i feel the desert sun , and i can imagine me and my party skinny dipping in the pool under the fall. ( sadly no mods ).

and there's elfroot, and blood lotus everywhere.. heavenly. .. oh and shards , lovely shards ...

You forgot the stinking, mangy coyotes.

The game always seems to freak out every time I go to the Oasis. It's a good enough sign for me to completely forget about it and the dang shards.

Hyenas. Coyotes are smaller.

I got all the shards by jumping off cliffs and jump-glitching my way back up, the tunnels and hyenas are the problem for me. I get lost, run around in circles, suddenly I'm back where I started and some hyenas I killed five minutes ago have already spawned. That usually goes on for ~an hour until I get all the loot in the area.

Yeah the Hyenas are a pain early on. Is anyone else getting a Lion King vibe with the Hyenas and all those rock formations?

I know, I don't know why I typed Coyotes. I must be losing the plot.

Don't think if them as coyotes or hyenas...think of them more generically as delivered crafting materials (although calling hyena hide canine leather does bother me).

@Sidney: Calling them Hide Canine Leather bothers you? Why all that misplaced consideration? People on BSN call their I.´s companions "Love Interest" all the time.

"Hide Canine Leather" instead od "coyote" seems preferable to that abomination.

The game isn't wrong, though.  Hyenas are members of the canine family.

No they're not. They're Hyaenidae. They're even suborder Feliforma.

They're Carnivora, but that's as close as the relationship gets.
