Of course not only who is strongest overall but by classes.

 Who is the stronger rogue

Cole, Zevran, Isabela, Varric, Sebastian Vael,, Leliana, Nathaniel Howe, Sigrun, Jerrik Dace,Sera, Talis

Who is the strongest warrior:

Iron Bull, Cassandra, Blackwall, Alistair, Loghain, Sten, Shale, Ariane, Oghren, Justice, Carver, Fenris, Aveline

Who is the strongest mage

Morrigan, Wynne, Velanna, Anders, Finn, Merill, Bethany, Dorian, Vivienne, Solas

My opinion is that Cole us the strongest rogue as he can be invisible for others and read minds

For warriors, Fenris or Shale its a hard think to answer here.

For mages well the one who is a god.

In-story, for mage and rogue the answer seems fairly clear. At the end of the game,
Spoiler

A Cole who is encouraged on the spirit path or simply left alone would be the most powerful rogue. I think there's one moment in Asunder where he pretty much walks up to a templar, blots himself out of his mind, then slices the guy's throat without him properly noticing... not even after his throat's been cut. Of course, that's strictly speaking in combat and as a role, Cole would probably be an awful spymaster. On the bright side, all your orders would be lovely semi-poetry.

In theory or in actual gameplay?

I mean, in theory, Morrigan has incredible knowledge and skill: to know how to use the Eluvians, to perform the Dark Ritual, so on.  Anders is capable of amazing feats of healing and has that nice/crazy spirit/demon inhabiting him that allows him to pull off some strange tricks as well, including temporarily reversing tranquility before it was thought possible.  (Also, in origins/awakening, either can perform some very nice OP combinations.)  And, as said, Solas is, well, Solas.

Having said that, even though magic was so reduced from Origins/Awakening to DAII and then to DAI, in gameplay, Viv could probably take them both in a cage match, simply because knight enchanter is the most broken thing around: much more then shapeshifter and spirit healer.  Even if either of them picked up arcane warrior as well (which was pretty darn OP as well), knight-enchanter is just broken.

...Having said that, I'd rather think Morrigan or Anders (or Solas, though he never really shows super power) is more powerful, so.  You know.

And then you have DAO archers who could basically destroy everything in sight... does that mean Leianna or Nate is the most powerful?  Or pre-patched Sera's fire flask/thousand cuts abuse?  Or are we going on story, in which it's probably Cole: who can make people forget him and basically go invisible at will (that would be so useful during battles...).

Again, warriors: Cass claims she can boil the lyrium in someone's blood, right?  Wow.  That's pretty OP and useful.  But it never happens in gameplay, and Blackwall's Champion specialization is generally more useful for tanking then her Templar one, even just in DAI, and if you're after damage, Iron Bull's Reaver is better.  Fenris being able to rip out hearts is pretty awesome as well, but that only happens in one cutscene (maybe two, depending on your choices?).  Honestly, though, I'm unsure which warrior would dominate if you cage matched them, though.  In general, DAO characters did less damage then DAII and DAI characters, but they also had more skills and strategies...

Most powerful mage...I'd have to say either Morrigan or Solas. I'll go with Morrigan for now, since Solas was in a weakened state while he was a companion, so we never really get to see his full potential or see the results of absorbing Mythal's power. Meanwhile Morrigan can drink from the well and learn to shapeshift into a dragon, and uses that power to help you directly. Honorable mentions to Wynne and Anders for both being powerful healers and having the help of a spirit/demon. But they can both potentially be dead.

We can always compare them by feats. Cassandras ability to burn lyrium in the blood is good but not against warriors that do not have lyrium in the bloot like all the warrior companions besides Alistair and maybe Fenris.

Morrigan if she drinks from the Well of Sorrows and becomes capable of turning into an High Dragon.

Otherwise, I'm thinking Cassandra. Sure, Wynne and Anders with their respective spirits are very powerful and Alistair is a warrior strong enough to defeat the Arishok but Cassandra has Seeker powers to complement her fighting skill and could just burn the lyrium in their veins.

Yeah, I'm thinking Cassandra as well, even if Morrigan does learn the High Dragon shape (she comes from a line of dragon-hunters and killed one before).

She is still an extremely skilled warrior.

Fenris goes up in flame because his whole skin is covered in lyrium.

And, well, if we accept what is shown in "Dawn of the Seeker" as 100% canon, Cassandra takes on a small army of golems and ogres alone.

Furthermore, do not forget the process of turning dwarves into golems involves pouring raw lyrium into their eyeballs. I'm guessing that there is plenty in Shale Cassandra could boil.

You've forgotten the caveat: it's very rare for a Seeker to be able to use that lyrium-burning trick to actually kill someone, and Cassandra only knew of one Seeker who could. Since she says that Seekers tend to either use it for interrogation or paralysis, I think it only causes intense pain; useful, but by no means an instant death, and it seems roughly comparable to the templar Holy Smite power.

Warrior - in terms of pure physical strength, it's a tie between Cassandra and Aveline. However, if we add powers, then Cassandra wins by a mile.

Rogue - Cole or Nate

Mage - Solas

Overall strongest companion lore wise is probably between Solas or Morrigan. For the moment I'll say Solas.

By class? I'm not sure. I guess it depends on what you consider powerful.

Warrior: Shale? Cassandra? Alistair?

Rogue: Cole, because spirit.

Mage: Solas

So she cuts their head off while their writhing around in unimaginable agony.

What's the problem?

Cole is the strongest rogue, especially on the spirit path, since he has some degree of magical powers. I'm not even sure what would happen if his Cole body died. Return to the Fade? Become a formless wanderer?

Shale is the strongest warrior, being invulnerable, immortal and able to pulverise people. Justice would be in second place for the same reasons as Cole. Kill the body and he still lives.

For mages, either Solas or Morrigan, since they have access to ancient knowledge. Solas also seems to be a Dreamer, while Morrigan was trained by Flemeth.
