Is it just for or does charging bull has a 50/50 chance to work? Almost every time I tried to use it the katari did it for like 0,5-1 seconds, then he would stop. Just freaking stop.

It's a shame you are having that issue. I gave myself that problem in the early days by pressing, not holding down the Charging Bull button, so when I stopped in 0.5-1 seconds, there was a good reason !  :D.

You have to be wary of small objects on the ground that for some reason we cannot step over as humanoid characters.  Rocks are terrible for stopping the power along with the 1h sword block of doom

Yes, you can stub your toe on a pebble using Charging Bull or Flank Attack.

Hold the button.

It can be blocked by certain enemies, so you will stop immediately. That might be it.

the 1h sword block of doom

Ahh, the same thing that blocks all twelve projectiles of a leaping shot and one of the few things to annoy Arcane Warriors.

That block is the main problem when I play Katari. That and guys with shields who just happen to be in with the otherwise perfect line of enemies.

With flank attack it isn't so much as stubbing your toe as it is being launched 10 feet into the air

Charging bull usually works for me but I have noticed if there is anything in the way as people have mentioned, it tends to just stop short. I have seen in single player issues with going down or up elevation will stop it as well. It usually works for me when i need it but there is that 5% or so of the time that it fails me right when I need it and i just lost a tick of stamina and popped its cooldown. Can be annoying.

Yes, but have you ever slain a dragon?

There's two control schemes for CB. Mouse & KB, and Controller. The controller version requires holding the CB key, whereas the M&KB version is tapping the CB and tap again to stop.

There is also a minimum distance before you can knock people over, so if you're already too close, get used to running backwards and circling around for a CB once you've gone past the short minimum distance to KD with.

Ever played CoD and been unable to move because your pinky toe was stuck on a pebble? Same thing for the Katari, really.

I have changed my mind on the katari on overall effectiveness.  I was too harsh on him before.  The changes made to the class are decent and with charge having a pretty short cooldown he is quite survivable, even if you don't take combat roll.

Fantastic... Got that to six, best I've seen  :)

Looking for a seven sometime on the multiplayer forums, just getting the challenge out there  :D

I've noticed it 'failing to work' more since the update. But it usually is either 'user-error' (apparently punching the button on the only patch of vaguely uneven path on the map) or just the bad luck of trying to charge at the same time an archer gets a shot off or one of those templars starts throwing his lyrium death bolts around. Most of the time, I was just trying to charge those guys for 'effect' because, hey, why not? (Yes, I will admit I sometimes I get in 'the zone' where I basically just go 'KATARI CHARGE!...KATARI SMASH!!!') So instead I just roll around to close the gap, holding aggro whilst the teammates handle the killing part.

Side note, you can't charge a guy with a shield. Because...he's got a shield. That's a no-go.

So, (a probably non-comprehensive) list of things that make Katari have to 'take a moment' in the middle of his charge:
1) Guys with Shields
2) Projectiles (except maybe not spirit ones?)
3) Things that pop out of the ground
4) Things that hit really hard if you're already too close (Like Demons. But who wants to deal with those guys anyways?)
5) Dismissive Arm-Waving from 1H Swordsmen (Such a buzzkill)
6) Ground that is not Level
7) Benches (aka 'WHO PUT THAT THERE?!' If you can't smash it, you can't charge through it. Sad fact.)

I also in most cases cannot stop similar to what pimpernickel said. I keep running and running regardless of what I press or meet on the way. I even charge through walls occasionally. Can steer with the mouse to some extent during the charge. But not when mouse look is on.

But if I charge through demon commander terror spell, I get to twitch by the end of the charge sometimes somewhere rather far away. It does end quite rapidly though.
